24/25 Grade Darko
how would you grade darko's performance this year?
a lot of factors to consider
- meeting team objectives
- developing a team identity
- development if players
- usage of roster/lineups
- in game strategies/adjustments
- etc
how would you grade darko 1 to 10? (10 being the best)

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
lol so hard, I don't know.
Certain players seemed to develop, especially the rookies.
His lineups were confusing at times, but was he trying to lose?
We could have tanked a bit better with more strategic moves, but was there pressure to keep players happy?
I gave a very neutral 5 as I'm just really unsure how to measure. Next season will be a really good indicator.

Team plays hard
He can develop players (all our young guys improved)
The team played way better defense
good vibes coach
Out of all the bottom 10 teams, he did the best job
gave him an 8. He's still growing as a coach but I like what I see so far

Hard to judge. The only thing i can definitly take away is, that this team played hard. No matter how bad the Line Ups were, they really tried and didnt resignate despite it beeing a lost season.
Next year is the real test, the last 2 are kinda "meh".

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
After that disastrous dec, I thought the players gave up on him. But then, the team showed some hope for the future in Jan sporting a record above .500 that month. especially in finally caring about their own side of the court since jan
he understood the assignment by rolling out tank lineups after the all-star break, instead of chasing Ws. unfortunately, some teams are truly awful.
and most importantly rookies/young players are actually developing under his watch.
ill give him a 6

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
As others have said, this is a tough call. I like his motivation and development, but strategically it is so hard to judge off of this season. Did we tank intentionally? Was our roster just bad or too injured to succeed? I honestly can't tell.
Next year, with a high lottery pick and returning healthy all-stars, we might finally get a read on his acumen as a coach beyond just getting young players to play hard.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
An 8 for me.
Positives.
- All of the rookies got better throughout the season.
- Was able to keep a winning attitude within the locker room despite it being a washed season.
- Team chemistry got better with each passing month
My negatives.
- I’m still not sure he has a grasp on what to do from an in game situation. It’s hard to judge due to us tanking.
- Treating Boucher like dog ****.
- coaching Scottie’s offensive game

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
Its a tough one -
It feels like we are either the most injury plagued team in the NBA or were were trying to tank;
Can't really blame him for either.
At the same time, I can't credit Masai with finding post lotto players like Walter, Mogbo, Shead, and Battle and not credit the coach that give them the opportunity to play.
7 maybe?

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
Im not going to give a grade, because I have always beaten the drum that none of us know how to evaluate a coach beyond end results, but...
This team has had the most ASTs in franchise history the last 2 yrs (for a team), so the ball movement/cutting has been interesting to watch, but unfortunately it just hasnt translated in terms of efficient offense. I know for a long time, even when the Deebo yrs we had a top 5 offense, people craved for this style of offense (I argued against it, back when RUcker was with us), but I just hope we change it up next yr with a new influx of a ball dominant scorer and future draft pick.
The defense came around, and I love how crisp our rotations were when beaten on the ball/PnR defensively, we were pretty good in scrambles, so credit to him for the buy in.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
Incomplete.
Lots of people have said he doesn't have roster to compete. But there were still a lot of mistakes he made earlier in the season that can't just be explained away like that when they were still trying to win some games. Then they won a lot of games they were blatantly trying to lose. So, difficult to rate. Certainly wouldn't rate him very high if someone forced me to give a number.
I'd say next year is the year. They should be fully trying to win and have the roster to make a good enough go of it. So if they fail at that, he can go.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
We started the season losing lots of competitive games. And that was with lots of rotation guys out and newly dropped rookies playing.
Then we hit that spell where we started getting blown out and bad habits started to set in. You could see the difference and it wasn't good.
But Darko flicked a switch and stopped it from continuing and Barnes focused more on it too and it completely changed the team. It gave them an identity going forward that they can carry into next year and beyond.
Darko deserves full credit for that and keeping great vibes for most of the year while losing. He got the buy in of the players and they believe in him.
I give him a 7.
But next year is the real test. Bad lineups, bad timeouts, bad challenges will all be more scrutinized. If they continue, he won't be here long. But if they "fix", then it will certainly look like this year's were planned to help the tank.
Maybe he is our Spro or maybe our Casey. Next year results matter.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
There was a lot of improvement and everyone remained pretty damn positive during a miserable season of losing and then intentional losing. I wasn't sure he knew a damn thing about defense but we became pretty damn good once Dick stopped playing lol.
With that said, there was almost 0 pressure to win games. I wasn't a fan when we tried to win games last year and still not too confident he will be a good game manager next year. We will find out very quickly next year.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
I think the biggest thing Darko did was keep the team together during a very tough season. The guys genuinely liked playing with each other, locker room seemingly had a great vibe. That's huge for setting the culture of the team going into next season

How do you grade him while he was clearly tanking? They tanked all year.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
8/10
He got these bums playing defence, which is an impressive feat. Had we been healthy, we would have easily won 40+ games.
He also managed the tank very well down the stretch, with some clutch substitutions in close games to secure the loss. And he did it without losing the locker room. That's not easy. I just wish he'd started the deliberate tanking earlier in the season.
I was not particularly impressed with him last year, but he's been great this season.

I voted 7 for the player development and the team spirit during a tanking season. His xo and challenge remain to be seen.

Re: 24/25 Grade Darko
I gave him an 8.
I assume he's a part of the player development philosophies, and that has been terrific. There's something to be said about the players on the team and other teams that like him.
The next step is obviously winning and I think the Raptors will win next year. He'll have to improve his in-game management, though with what the goal of the team was this year, who knows what some of the motivations were?
