I am not sure he will get a higher offer. Especially from a big market team. He can be a nice target.

Tre Jones is an interesting target. UFA. 25. Not too good a shooter but is shooting 50% on low volume in CHI. With Giddey about to be paid, they got 3 guards who could making 50+ next season, so they might not even try to keep him.

In CHI - 18 games, 25.3 MPG

11.5 PPG 3.2 RPG 4.9 APG 1.1 SPG
57.2% on 8.1 FGA
50.0% on 1.2 3PA
88.2% on 1.9 FTA
61.0% EFG 64.7% TS

Tre Jones is a good player. However, he is another small point guard just like Kolek. I don't know how much of an upgrade he is from Payne.

Oh I think he is a massive upgrade from let it fly.

We have the Taxpayer MLE that is like 6 mil for 2 years. Normally that wouldn’t be much, but this year a lot of teams do not have tax space or even the non taxpayer MLE. So we might actually get someone decent on that contract

We also have Precious contract we can S&T with maybe a young guy or second rounder moved in another trade at the same time.

I say that to say this. We could actually do something surprising.

I don't see how we can get much from a Precious Sign and Trade.

Teams that have a huge payroll can't get S&T players because the team that receives an S&T player is hard-capped at the first apron. So, it is easier to use cap space or MLE to sign Precious than to pay for an S&T deal.

We are already a team that lacks a 3ball. Why do we need another player who does not like to shoot 3s?

No. Durant's salary is way higher. Next season, he will make $54,708,609 against $24,9M from Mikal.

We would have to include Brunson, KAT, or Hart plus Mitch.

mitch and hart can go

Being legal does not mean it is likely.

I think Durant is worth more than Hart + Mitch + Mikal + a small bunch of seconds. Maybe adding Deuce. But it would kill our depth even more.

We got to see. There isn’t a lot of FA money this summer, also there is only a small sample of him being good on a bad team and he’s 29.

Like Ty Jerome, Giddy, Grimes, Brown, Turner, and Kuminga should be the guys getting paid first and more. Malik Beasley should be on that list too. After that there won’t be a lot of money out there for a guy like Yabusele. He could get that same contract from Philly, but if that is the case he could also come to NY and play for a winning team.

Philly is Lowkey a mess right now. It sounds like Gordon and Drummond are going to take their player options and they got to Pay Grimes while keeping PG, Maxey, and Embiid.

Giddy, Grimes, Turner and Kuminga will get paid for sure.

I dont know if Cavs can keep Ty. He is a nice cap space/Full MLE target.

Yep and that not even considering if Randle, Irving, or Harden hits the market

That cap space is so bad that alone should kill most of the market. I read somewhere where an agent was quoted saying this is the worst FA they’ve seen for money. So the smarter move for a player would be to go somewhere where they can audition for a big contract while on a short contract.

The Knicks don’t got a lot of money but I still think they can get a worthwhile acquisition. Just like last year, some legit NBA talent is going to be forced to take the minimum.

Interestingly, there will be many ways to legitimately upgrade this roster despite what this board’s grinch-faction has kept saying over and over and over and Giannis and …

KD's family and some close relatives are knicks fan, reportedly. He attempted to go to a different direction every chance he get but he did not succeed except for the golden state run. Which is why i strongly believe he will try to brute force his way to the knicks, now that he is on his last legs

...and when this happens, there will be collateral damage

KD coming here will have the same impact as TMac coming here. Not better and not worse

Josh Hart, Dadiet, PJ Tucker, 2 SRP for Jaden McDaniels?

Or something like that?

I think Hart is just as good if not better than McDaniels, wouldn’t you agree?

I think Jaden is a much better defender than Josh, whose defense took a step back this season from my pov. Jaden is All NBA Defense level.

Only if you hate defense  which seems to be a common thing with all the players you like.
