Kinda shocking/funny that Miami eeked by to finish the season with a positive net rating (+0.4). Smack dab in the middle at 16th. Every team below Miami had a negative net rating.

Couple this with the I believe league leading 20+ blown games after leading by double digits and it shows you just how thin the margins are. You straighten out the late game stuff and blowing leads and you’re looking at homecourt in the first round at minimum

I fully believe if we make it out of the play in that we will give the Cavs everything they could possibly want in a series
That deal is going to go 6-7 games and get really spicy, I do not rule out Miami getting to the ECF if they get through the play in. Spo will run circles around everybody in the East not named Boston.
Draft picks are cool and all but you also need to consider the youth on this roster and how they would benefit from seeing playoff action as well, also it is a good way to demonstrate to stars that we are close.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 9
Nobody in the East is scary (including Boston at this point tbh) which is the only reason why many of us as fans of the team do not feel totally out of any series with any of the Eastern Conference teams.
Unfortunately however, just because those teams aren't powerhouses it doesn't mean our team has a chance against them. I don't think we go past 6 games against any of the top 5 teams. And that's being generous and assuming that Bam and Tyler can keep it going as far as what they're producing right now as far as offense. If either one of them falters/comes back down to earth? Forget about it. 5 games max, and most of them probably not very pretty.
I think I'll just be happy to see at least a couple more Heat games before the season is wrapped up. Beat Chicago (which is obviously nowhere near a given, considering they have Michael Giddey on their team) and then whatever result in the next game (hopefully loss, if we're truly thinking about the future). Just no heartbreakers and no blowouts either.
We can simultaneously root for the Grizzlies, so that we can get a better pick from GSW as well. So the end result of the season being the possibility of a lottery pick for us, and a good 1st round pick from GSW. I'm good with that.

Giannis yes. Dame i'm not touching with a ten foot pole. We already went through the clots with Bosh. Not looking to experience that again. Giannis is a pipe dream considering what we have to offer. But if he requests Miami only, would the Bucks honour his request considering he's their 2nd best player of all time? I doubt it. But that if a deal were to happen to Miami, that would be the reason why

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 9
They fire Bud, who they should really fire is James Jones..
They have a 110 million dollar hole with Beal still having two years remaining and unwilling to waive his NTC, likely also opting in that final year since no team is going to offer him anything more than MLE.
They owe about 80 million in coaching payroll to Vogel and Bud.. and are likely signing a new head coach for another 50 million..
They had the highest player salary in nba history this past season..Their only option of salary cap relief is getting rid of Durant for expirings and picks…
though i saw bleacher report suggest that the Mavericks would trade pj washington, klay, gafford and 3 firsts for durant which is an incredible overpay for a 37 year old but wouldnt put it past them to do something desperate like that to try to save face with the fans..

I can't see them (PHX) taking on a multi-yr non rookie contract at the 2 with Booker and Beal on the books already. I'm interested to see where does KD actually want to be, as opposed to where fans simply assume he wouldn't mind playing due to connections we draw up. I think we make sense given his familiarity with the city and being coached by Spo, but I also acknowledge KD is a different cat and could opt for some team out of left field.

If we're being real, the owner should fire himself. I'm fairly certain each of their "all-in" moves to acquire any flashy offensive player they can and overspend to do so came from the top.

The wording of the report confirms what a lot of us already knew, KD is going exactly where he wants to go.

Y'all are once again setting yourselves up for a major disappointment.
Hard to blame you coming off a season as miserable as this one though.

I’m probably one of the biggest whale pessimist on this board and never felt better about getting KD this offseason. We have the right contracts and pieces that lineup.

NEVER doubt The Godfathers greatness. KD is being served on a silver platter to him this summer

Can something like this trade happen on draft night a-la Ray Allen to the Celtics? Basics:
PHX sends:
-KD
-Cody Martin
MIA sends:
-Wiggins
-Rozier
-Jovic
-Jaime
-2025 Heat 1st (assuming no playoffs)
-2025 Warriors 1st
PHX then reroutes some of those guys in other trades during the off-season.
Heat have Duncan's contract restructured to 2/20, Burks/Mitchell/Dru are resigned, KJ's option is picked up, some of the remaining guys come back for more 2-ways/exhibit 10s, etc.
PG - Mitchell
SG - Herro
SF - Durant
PF - Bam
C - Ware
Bench: Anderson, Burks, Larsson, KJ, Smith (eventually), Love, Highsmith, Robinson, Martin, Draft/Off-season/Minor Trade filler.

Very similar to the deal I have been positing except we keep our lottery pick this year(if we do get it) and give them GSW pick and 2031 future pick. I think that’s more than a fair offer considering they are also getting two young former 1st rd picks in JJJ and Jovic. They can also flip Wiggins easily to a contender.
