Shams:

Budenholzer had issues connecting with the locker room this season, with team officials concluding that the roster failed to respond to the 2021 NBA championship coach, sources said.

Budenholzer's inability to coexist with his players centered around the franchise's cornerstone, Devin Booker, and went down the roster, those sources said.

The Suns will now hold a wide-ranging coaching search, sources said.

Over two years into ownership, Ishbia has shown supreme aggressiveness and willingness to spend for players, coaches and resources for the organization. This iteration of the team did not work, however, and the franchise is set to retool around Booker.

This marks the first action in a summer of change coming to the Suns. Phoenix is expected to engage in trade conversations involving Durant and will have discussions on the future of Beal, according to sources. Multiple teams will seriously pursue Durant, who finished another stellar season, and the franchise is expected to work with Durant and his business partner and Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman on the next landing spot for the future Hall of Famer.

We draft
Toumani Camara
Dunn
Ighodaro

We traded for KD, Beal, and Allen, and we even tried to get Butler (California boy—Pat Riley didn’t want the Suns to land him).
You can point out flaws in those moves, but I never felt like we were headed in the wrong direction.

We need Malone.

So-- they are going to keep Durant and not only that, extend Durant
Trade Beal with a bunch of draft picks
and think a coach will fix the roster.

Shams says pretty clearly that KD and the Suns are gonna work together in a trade for KD.

If you look at what he said about Beal he used the sentence "discussions on the future of Beal", they are gonna look every possible option available for his contract.

I read your edited posts and did read the whole article - and I truly hope they do something smart with both Durant and Beal. But with Mat Ishbia, will he be pragmatic for the first time as Suns owner or will he be reactionary

Maybe Bud was the wrong coach but that roster wasn't very good either.

Honestly after Ted Stepien, Ishbia has to be the dumbest owner in NBA history. There’s nothing that Sarver did which comes even close to this…including the sells picks for cash that Sarver did back in 2004-2006.

Their gonna create an “Ishbia rule” that teams can’t give up pick swapping rights in back to back years either.

Budenholzer had to go. Good start of cleaning the house.

Thank god we traded away CP3 to get the more durable Bradley Beal! And gave Washington picks in addition to that.

The emotional Durant trade started the whole thing.

I always said it at at the time: Booker, Ayton, Bridges and Cam was a good core. I know some were better, and some worse - -but the trade did two things - -depleted the roster and took away any future chance to build a roster. Ishbia could have gotten by with either players or expirings/picks -- he gave up both!

The guy is just a smug ass****. Look at how he talks in the interviews. That’s telling just in itself.

What a damned mess Ishbia has created. And to think Sarver was so bad? In retrospect, he seems like exactly what this team needs right now.

Inevitably we'll get another coach, but as long as we have Mister Impatient as owner, it'll be a constantly revolving door. If we don't trade Booker because we could use what he'd draw, I won't be the least bit surprised to hear him ask out.

I’m sure good HC candidates will be lining up to coach for a team that’s fired 3 coaches in 2.5 years.

Sarver wasn’t nearly as bad as Ishbia. Even with him being cheap and not wanting to pay for a G league team and all.
