Even if you suspended disbelief enough to think Phoenix would take this deal, who is supposed to play when KD inevitably misses 15-30 games?

You just traded away 3 rotation players who average ~90 MPG combined as Knicks. Then you want to add picks on top of that.

I trust Thibs and Leon to figure all that out later.

I don't think there will be many teams pursing KD in the off-season. Knicks can get him cheap.

ESPN trade machine says it works if you add Mitch and a few others. Only Hart is a starter.

I just have faith in Leon Rose. He's smart, and has done some things I never thought doable.

He grabbed a prime KAT for an overrated starter and a bench player + 1 1st rounder.

He gave up a lot for Bridges. But nobody ever thought the Knicks and Nets would ever be trade partners.

Also, while KD doesn't have a no-trade clause, he seems like he still holds leverage. Apparently, he basically vetoed a trade that would have sent him to GSW last trade deadline.

Lastly, this is a league where some questionable can happen (Luka for AD). Leon Rose might be able to pull something off.

KD picking the Knicks for the finals and calls them perfect? I knew he was arrogant but I didn't think he was stupid. He must be f*cking with that person.

I think with this exchange we can lay rest to the notion of mutual interest between Knicks and KD....he literally called the guy delusional when he suggested he'd end up here. Forget about this route. This is for me as much direct confirmation as possible that the report saying KD didn't want to go to the Knicks was actually accurate. And don't take it personal guys....KD just wants to play basketball and be left completely alone---this is just not possible in NY, you will have some drama accompanying you. IMO that's probably the biggest reason he'll rather look at some smaller market teams.

Until shams says otherwise, I’m inclined to believe KD is interested in joining us. Shams is undefeated.

an underrated factor in getting someone like KD would be that our core guys grew up looking up to him. think of 2012-13. sheed, kurt, and kidd were guys that brought the best out of melo because people don't wanna be caught **** around or embarrassing themselves in front of their heroes lol this team needed accomplished vets on the bench imo

Assuming these messages are real... the language KD used basically solidifies that there is truth to the rumors. He's trying to deflect the rumors by calling the guy "delusional". It's like when you get caught lying and you just tell the person "you're crazy".

Secondly, he makes it known that he now respects the team, unlike in 2019; while going as far to say they will make the finals (more deflection by trying to insinuate the Knicks don't need or will go after him)

Regarding KD just wanting to "play basketball and be left completely alone". It's not like Knicks are pulling a card out of their old books and asking KD to be the savior of NY. Brunson and KAT are here to take most/all of the media spotlight. And we have Bridges and OG to take on a lot of defensive duties.

KD would literally becoming to NY to be an "Easy money sniper" like he was with the GSW. NYK are his ideal landing spot.

How about we wait until our run in the playoffs is over before we start trading away our best players for a 37 year old Durant whose team didn't even make the cut this year.

Who do we actually trade for kd without making our depth an even bigger problem? The dude is ancient by nba standards and will definitely miss a ton of games like he does every year now. Are we trying to be the suns? The suns suck btw. Chasing an old ass guy is 2000s Knicks ****, let’s move on.

We need to make under the radar moves. Look for young guys who are underperforming or due for an extension like Jarace Walker or Jordan Hawkins. Nickel Alexander Walker would be a good target in Free Agency as well.

The only splashy move I would make would be KAT for Giannis if Milwaukee ever decided to trade him

KD thinks it’s perfect for him to break up the team 8-)

Shams standing on business!
“Back at the NBA trade deadline, there were multiple teams that pursued Durant in a trade, and there were some teams that there were also mutual interest. Those teams included Houston, New York, San Antonio, as well as Miami. So expect those teams to be back in the picture for Kevin Durant. I would expect others to jump in the fray as well.”
