Sorry, but there was a time when LeBron was the best player in the world, and it automatically meant a finals appearance at the very least. If Jokic is who they say he is and he can't win a playoff series or two this year when OKC is really the only standout team in the conference, he won't be the unquestioned best guy.

Post your stats all you want, I don't care. Thats how I feel. :)

Jokic would have made the Finals every year in that awful east easily.

Jokic had trouble with the Damian Lillard/CJ McCullum led Blazers. What's he running through?

The only year he ran through anything was the 2023 when he beat the play-in Lakers and Heat to win the easiest ring in recent memory. Other than that, dude hasn't proven to be the type of player to blindly place faith that he'll find a way to win a series because he's the best player. When has playoff Jokic ever defied the odds, uplifted his team and beat a team he wasn’t supposed to because he was the best player outside of the series vs mentally weak Bubble Clippers?

Jokic fans are already copping pleas for if they lose to this version of the Clippers. "Oh they have the best players 2-8"

That’s such a dishonest take. Since 2020 when has the Nuggets been healthy in the playoffs? 2021? Nope 2022? Nope. 2024? Nope. If you gonna hate do a better job making your point. What’s funny you made this account to hate on Jokic. It’s hilarious.

i still got sga

keep in mind that 75x69 doesn't tell the whole story. shai was unavailable only once this season. he sat a few times vs tanking teams, occasion which the thunder was able to roll with bench players and win.

this season really gives me the impression that the nba needs an award for offensive player of the year, though.

So he finished ahead of Jokic in EPM, RAPM and LEBRON and we're supposed to believe it's ridiculous he's going to win MVP? He finished ahead of Jokic in WS and WS/49 for the box score lovers too. And he was only 0.1 behind Jokic in DARKO. Really not seeing why SGA winning is supposed to be some injustice to Jokic unless you're just a stan.

People are more likely to make their vote public early if they have a contrarian view. With how big of a lead SGA had in the last straw poll, there's no way it ends up close.

WTF are you talking about he had trouble with the Blazers? Because he lost one 7 game series at age 23? He beat them in 6 without Murray in 2021.

"MVP" Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets have a losing record of 18-21 vs winning teams this year, and four of those wins came without Jokic. So 14 wins vs winning teams this year with Jokic on the court, and if I want to be even more petty, one of those wins came against the Lakers on a back to back who rested their whole team. And Nuggets should've lost that game, too.

Im sorry but how can you give MVP to a guy who doesn't beat the best teams? Why doesn't his statistical domination translate to wins vs the best competiton? You can go through almost every MVP season in the last 15 or so years and almost all of them have uplifted their teams to wins vs the best teams in the league, because that's what MVPs do. Hell, Jokic even did that last year even though I believe Shai should've won it last year as well.

Guess who was the last MVP to win the award with a losing record vs winning teams? Yup, it was Jokic in 2021-2022. And you guys want to give him another one this year because of "STATZ OMG" "OKC BESTEST TEAM EVER ASSEMBLEDD" "JOKIC NO HELP!!111"

The stat padder narrative on Jokic is very real.

There are now 23 votes revealed, and it's 15 to 8 in favor of SGA. Don't think it'll be that close in the end, but Jokic will have his share of first place votes too, which is deserved tbh.

I laughed when someone in one of these threads proposed that it might be a unanimous win for SGA. That was never going to happen. It’ll probably be 70/30 for first place votes and that’s cool. Made my peace with that. SGA deserves as much as Jokic in my eyes. Just happy to see some votes going Jokic way to at least recognize his transcendent season.

As expected, Shai will be named MVP on Monday. While I don't agree with the decision, you can't deny he and his team had an incredible season. Congrats to him.

SGA should win MVP... MVP has always been the best player on best team award, so i am not sure why people are arguing here. D Rose won it when he was not a top 5 player in the league for god sake. Let's keep the criteria the same or you would never be able to compare players cross eras.

4th percentile in rim protection as the starting center. Yeah, this is why Jokic is massively overrated and will never win a title against good competition. He's an empty stats pylon that is no better than prime harden or Westbrook. At least Westbrook played defense in high school
