Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Jason Kidd 09' - 7.6 - Dallas
Reggie Miller 00' - 12.9 - 3pt PCT
Jimmy Butler 19' - 13.9 - Philly
Larry Bird 86' - 19.6 - Coach
Tyson Chandler 08' - 7.7 - Pelicans

JJ Redick 09' - 4.7 - Magic
Marques Johnson 81' - 15.2 - Bucks
DeAndre Jordan 13' - 6.3 - Clippers

7.6+12.9+13.9+19.6+7.7+4.7+15.2+6.3=87.9

Kidd, Bird, Butler and Marques handle playmaking duties. Bird, Reggie and Redick provide elite shooting. While Chandler and DeAndre are both elite lob threats that anchor our defense.

Rotations:
PG: Jason Kidd 35 / Marques Johnson 10 / Jimmy Butler 3
SG: Reggie Miller 36 / JJ Redick 10 / Jimmy Butler 2
SF: Jimmy Butler 33 / Marques Johnson 15
PF: Larry Bird 38 / Marques Johnson 10
C: Tyson Chandler 30 / DeAndre Jordan 18

vs

C - Embiid (36), Kleber (12)
PF - Grant (38), Batum (10)
SF - Johnson (28), Batum (10), Posey (10)
SG - Thompson (38), Posey (10)
PG - Holiday (38), Johnson (10)

Matchup Overview vs Fade:

Defensive Assignments:
Butler → Magic
Kidd → Klay
Reggie → Jrue
Bird → Horace Grant
Chandler → Embiid

Defense:
Butler and Marques are both elite wing defenders who can disrupt Magic’s rhythm. Kidd is a strong, physical guard who can chase Klay off screens and stay attached. Chandler and DAJ offer elite rim protection to contain Embiid. With Bird’s help instincts and Reggie hiding on Jrue, we’re solid across the board.

Offense & Fit:
The Kidd-Butler-Bird-Reggie core provides elite playmaking, scoring, and spacing. Bird and Reggie can shoot over the top, Butler can break down defenders, and Redick adds even more gravity off the bench. Kidd and Chandler bring proven lob chemistry, and Marques gives us an explosive scoring option who can also facilitate.

Mismatch Advantage:
Fade’s squad doesn’t have a clear answer for Bird, who can control the game from the high post, the elbow, or the perimeter. Horace Grant doesn’t have the agility to stay with him on the outside, and if they shift a more mobile defender like Batum or Posey onto Bird, they might gain some perimeter resistance but lose physicality and rebounding inside.

Summary:
Our offense flows with elite passing and spacing. Our defense has answers for their stars. We’re deeper, smarter, and more versatile. This team wins with pace, movement, and toughness.

Like the Showtime Lakers, we combine the Magic-led transition game with a dominant offensive big man (Embiid). Klay is the perfect third option for both - he's devasting pulling up for trail threes on the break, but is obviously a deadly floor spacer in the halfcourt as well. Jrue gets to reprise the lower-usage role he has in Boston, where he can spot up for open threes, beat up weaker defenders in the post, and attack closeouts when it gets swung to him. Grant helps to open things up for Embiid with his elite midrange shooting.

Defensively, we have Embiid patrolling the middle, a couple of versatile combo bigs in Grant and Kleber, a range of wings with size to take on perimeter matchups... and Jrue effing Holiday as the head of the snake. Magic is our one weak spot, but we have more than enough around him to keep him out of problematic matchups, and his size makes him harder to attack than a smaller guard for example.

Matchup
- Defensive assignments to start are Magic-Kidd, Jrue-Reggie, Klay-Butler, Grant-Bird, Embiid-Chandler. Grant is a very mobile PF and should be able to do a serviceable job on Bird at the elbow. Posey and Batum are also in the mix as rangy wings to throw at durantbird's stars.
- I don't think Chandler is a great matchup for Embiid. Guarding post-up beasts was never his strong suit (understandable since he's rail thin), and Embiid is overpowering even for stronger post defenders.
- While Jrue can be inconsistent in more of a primary role, he's still a quick and dynamic driver and 34-year-old Reggie isn't a viable cover for him at all. In fact, durantbird has some issues at the point of attack in general - Kidd and Butler are very good defenders but not in that particular role, and Redick/Reggie/Johnson are all pretty vulnerable in that regard. Both Magic and Jrue should be able to create problems with dribble penetration in this series.

Good luck durantbird.
