kind of weird that Marques event threw out the 60% number. I have to imagine that even after the clot is gone, they would still do blood thinners for an extra day or two to make sure it is done and then need another two days to get it out of his system? IDk, I'm not a doctor.

Marcus Morris, eh? ESPN continues to bring in that top end talent.

It's clear that none of those guys watch Bucks games. They talked about Bobby and Kuzma being the keys to the series.

Bobby being playable will be a key to this series.
Fixed. I have no faith that Doc will go to the Kuzma/Giannis frontcourt when necessary, so Bobby finding a way to survive on defense is probably gonna be crucial.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Dame with DVT, unknown if he'll return this season
I'm just thinking how lucky we are to have witnessed:
The number one center (possibly number one over all player)
Top five PG of all time
Top five PF of all time
Top 10 SG of all time
All as Milwaukee Bucks
Oscar-Ray-Giannis-Kareem
Just need to draft an elite SF in my lifetime. Very lucky to experience this as a fan of a small market team. Not to mention the success we have in GB.

Bobby was really good against them last year, the question is how much do we use Brook if he's getting cooked again. The Pacers have been a nightmare matchup for him for years. Last year we had no options, this year we do.

Perusing the standings on company time...
Damn shame that Philly just sucks now. Really weakens the east. But here's a sobering thought... Atlanta and Orlando should take a significant step up next season if they have good health. If we dont make the right moves, we could very well find ourselves in the play in.

Stating the obvious, but this off-season will be huge for us.
Decision on brook/bobby - I fully expect Bobby to be the better player in this Indy series, but do we want to commit to him long term?
Retention of KPJ - we can go up to a full-mle. Are we comfortable with that? Will he get a better offer?
Retention of Rollins - we can offer 2.8m right now, but may also be able to use the BAE or part of the MLE depending on the rest of the offseason.
Decision on Dame - he’s a very good player, but he’s also not what we all hoped he would be here for us. It’s a damn shame we’ve never seen him and Giannis in the playoffs together, because I think he can level up some. But he’ll be 35 next year, and it hasn’t led to great regular season play. Do we move him? If not, do we feel comfortable with Giannis, Dame, KPJ as the new big 3?

While i know kpj has the talent to be a 2nd or 3rd option, it remains to be seen if he has the composure and professionalism. Team leaders cant be getting flustered every time someone bumps into them. I think its gotta be baby steps with him. Cant give him too much too fast. If Dame stays, he can continue to mentor him. In that situation, i think he can handle being our third option.
Something tells me they would still start Rollins next to Dame but whatever. Just get Kpj on the floor w Giannis when Dame goes out and then Dame can run the show completely when Giannis and Kpj go out.

It’s a risk, but also presents us with a great opportunity. The most frustrating thing about the Celtics recently has been that they have a capable third option that they were paying like a 4th or 5th guy in Derrick White.
Locking in a guy who we think has the talent of a top 3 player for the MLE would be huge for us. It would open up a lot of avenues for us to bring another really good player with our spare salary and 1st while not being a 2nd apron team. That’s sustainable.

Rollins is a pretty good option to start with Dame. He's our best defensive guard and although his playmaking and shot creation are still developing he can get to the rim and be a secondary playmaker.soxperry wrote:German Athens wrote:soxperry wrote:Perusing the standings on company time...

Bobby was incredibly inefficient in that Pacers series and just like previous series against Brooklyn and Boston, he struggles against teams that can switch and go small because he can't effectively scale his 3PT shot volume. And that's not even bringing up the defensive issues. There's gonna be situations where you can't play either guy.

I think the hindsight here is that Dame was the wrong kind of player to go all in on in the context of this new era of the NBA. Where we now have teams like OKC, Boston, and Cleveland, the old top heavy model feels archaic to say the least. At the same time, it was certainly not a bad trade, value wise. And i dont remember very many people expressing much doubt in the decision at the time.
Simply put, i think you need 6 to 7 guys now who can all shoot, pass, dribble and defend, with little exception. None of Boston or OKCs top offensive players are defensive liabilities. Hell OKC's defensive studs still all have decent offensive games. It's absolutely nuts, it's not changing any time soon, and pretty soon we are going to lose whatever veteran edge we may or may not have as these young teams gain experience. I really dont know what you do in this situation.
I think you bring up some really interesting points.
I get the feeling that top heavy rosters are archaic just by scanning the league for that roster type, but I don’t think building a super team and dominating is strictly a thing of the past. Partly, because a lot of the ascending teams okc, hou, Cleveland to a degree are younger squads who just haven’t felt the brunt of paying all their talent yet. Then there’s the Celtics who have an insanely expensive roster. Those squads aren’t necessarily sustainable, and eventually they’ll devolve into a more traditional big 3 or 4.
As for super teams,
If you look at
Steph - KD
Lebron - Wade
Shaq - Kobe
MJ - Pippen
Kareem - Magic
Malone - Dr J
Those are perennial 1st team all-nba guys. I think pitting those types of talents together would be no less dominant. If you paired Giannis and Luka together they would absolutely run through the league, but the avenues to acquire those types of talents have gotten harder, even more-so for Milwaukee.
I think the modern team building of 5 guys who can pass, dribble, shoot, finish, and defend is one that every team probably needs to be able to deploy, but I don’t think high dollars need to be allocated, necessarily. For instance, KPJ, Trent, Green, Bobby, Giannis has been our closest look at that, and our best lineup of late. That’s basically 3 min players and Bobby along side Giannis, and it’s under 20m salary.
You just need a GM who targets the right types of players and skillsets. Ideally, your team has the ability to play big (brook), play small (Giannis at 5), play zone, switch, drop, etc depending on matchups.
Maybe all this is mute, because I think pursuing 5 dudes who can do all of the above may be the right path for the bucks, too, but I think that has more to do with an untimely Khris demise, and Dame not being a top 10 player to overcome the loss of Khris.
We could probably build a really good team around Giannis and Dame, but I think I’m more interested in turning the page.

The one scenario where Bobby seems to do well in is when we go to zone defense. But yea, sucks to have two bigs who are matchup dependent.

Yep, I'll throw Doc a bone and concede that at least he's not Griffin having Bobby out there on an island and tasking him with trapping guards at half court. Zone is a fine wrinkle to throw in because he can at least sometimes be an asset on defense with his active hands/getting deflections, while not completely pulling him away from rebounding position. But you also can't run zone for a whole game, so here's hoping Bobby's cardio is strong after the long suspension layoff, cuz if he can't get back in transition consistently, he's gonna need to be pulled just like Brook or it's gonna be a short series. This is where it would be great if Jericho was a healthy option to toss out there.

Joe Dumars taking power makes dealing with the Pelicans full of possibilities.
I doubt he’s planning any sort of slow rebuild.
And he does not have a great track record making good moves period.

Headline on first take this morning. Would Gianni’s be better off on the Heat than the Bucks. They forgot to add it would be better off for espn.
