i actually heard on a podcast that unless they involve a 3rd team, a trade for kd has to pretty much be 1 for 1. Well we do have 1 that works

He’s mad we want KD while meanwhile he wanted us to keep all the trash kids we drafted while also trading for Nurkic and Jerami Grant. Not a serious person

Trade negotiations. That was the Wolves counter offer when Phoenix asked for Edwards.
The actual trade will end up being somewhere in the middle but Edwards will obviously not be included.
Either way the asking price for KD is sky high. But if Ant wants to bring his Idol home for a championship run, then it's happening.

I hope KAT likes Phoenix
I was messing around with the Spotrac trade machine yesterday
There are ways we can trade for KD without giving up Brunson and KAT.
We're also able to keep one of either OG or Mikal, but one of them would have to go. Josh would have to go in either scenario too, as would Mitch and Deuce.
Trading just KAT and then sending Dadiet to a 3rd team is the easiest route.
Durant and KAT at the 4 and 5 would probably be the best 3pt shooting frontcourt of all time.
I don't know if OG would want to play with Durant.

Booker is pretty close to KAT. The Suns are gonna ask for him. And like sham was saying, the trade is likely going to be a 1 for 1 trade and KAT fills the bill.

Phoenix can't aggregate players in trades, they can't trade two players making $30 million total to take back one guy making the same. But, they can take back multiple players for 1 player if those three players make the same amount as their 1. That's done to prevent 2nd apron teams from stacking talent by getting off multiple role players for a star.
Minn & Phoenix have a few ways to get a trade done.

Re: KD to the Knicks part 2?
I gave this lots of thought.... say NO to KD.
-> He's really old and will eventually fall off completely
-> He's not the healthiest dude
-> He's not really a winner, Golden State aside. That was the super team.
-> He's a coach killer
-> He insulted the Knicks on multiple occasions
-> It will take KAT to get KD. KAT can still put up good seasons and he can be used in a different trade (like Giannis) if that becomes a possibility
Hard Pass, folks. Hard Pass!

Realistically, nobody is beating Houston's offer if they want him.

Getting back Green allows the Suns to then trade Booker for an even bigger package of picks and young players, you can also add in Eason instead of Holiday as well and the trade works regardless.

Leon offering KAT for KD is wishful thinking from a couple of posters but it's not rooted in any actual rumors or reports.
Reports say Minny will go after him hard again to pair the two Super Friends and they'll probably get him.
If not them it's likely Houston. Knicks don't have what Phoenix is looking for.

Re: KD to the Knicks part 2?
Kevin Durant will be 37 when the season starts
sure he’s still very good, but that will change and some clowns here are still ready to sell the farm for a MFer who didn’t even qualify for the playoffs and has had major injury before. That’s nuts!
I would do it for Hart and Bridges, but it’s much more likely that we bring back DiVincenzo than for this to happen. Regardless, trolls love to act like we specifically need to ship out Towns in order for Durant to save us. It doesn’t matter that Towns will very likely be better than KD as early as next year because obviously all this is only rooted in the insecurity that stems from having been so embarrassingly wrong on Towns in the first place.
I could be wrong here too, but I do not think Rose would trade KAT for geriatric KD though and he really should not. Instead Phoenix will gladly put Gobert next to Booker and Beal (who they’re stuck with) and see how that works. Gobert is on a decreasing contract that’ll look better as it ages. In contrast to a KAT for Durant trade, this actually makes sense for both teams and not only Phoenix. Ant will lobby hard for this too and he obviously has a lot of leverage. He is still so young that they can operate on two timelines simultaneously.
This being realgm of course, it doesn’t have to make sense for the loudest. They know nothing and mostly go by hearsay, we’ve been there before.

1 for 1 doesn't work because both Knicks and Suns are over the cap and Suns are in the 2nd apron. Durant makes just a little more salary than KAT
We would have to trade one of our lower salary guys to a 3rd team

it does work. I just tried a KD for KAT swap on the espn trade machine

I think the Spotrac trade machine is more accurate. I thought the Knicks could keep their entire starting lineup minus JHart using the ESPN Trade Machine. But it doesn't look like that is possible with the Spotrac trade machine.

Re: KD to the Knicks part 2?
KAT for KD straight up says "The trade currently fails!". New York is Hard-Capped and over the 2nd apron by $1,919.872.
I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know what this means exactly. Does this mean the Knicks can proceed with this trade, but they will suffer dire consequences and restrictions? Or does it means they won't be allowed to make the trade at all?

Ah okay. We’ll just need to add a low salary player to attach for the trade to work then I assume. No biggie.
