Almost took Reaves in the third. He's been legit All-Star level the last few months.

Forgot DFS.

Didn't make a disciplined list for this one. Ah well, Iggy is better, and he can hit the occasional open three despite poor stats in the Denver season. Definitely leaning hard into defense here. Figured a clear identity was the way to go here.

Have a few different possibilities for my last starter.

And yeah I'd have taken Reaves if I didn't already have a committed backcourt. He's a forward thinking pick ala Mobley.

No regrets on Brook but looking back I think Mids was too conservative. Kyrie and Mitchell falling to late second was a break for Jokic/LeBron.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Pau dropping so far is surprising to me. Could have easily been a 2nd rounder in this pool, and he drops to the 5th.

Pau would have been a great get from a talent standpoint, but I prefer Bam as the unquestioned 5.

Yeah I was thrilled to land him as I think he’s a great fit with Jrue/Wade/Mobley.

I think I’ve maximized my draft position here. That’s all I’ll say.

Rip is another one I am surprised fell so far, given the large lack of quality SGs in this one

That one I understand. Great offball player but without reliable volume three point shooting or defense. Heavy price tag too.

Glad to see he was drafted but he feels like a later pickup here.

Agreed, but he's also not a non-shooter nor a poor defender. Had an excellent shooting season in the chosen season, albeit on low-volume as you said. And FWIW he did receive at least one DPOY vote, and was in the second of back-to-back years receiving at least one All-Def vote, although never truly sniffing either. Not selling him as an elite defender by any means, but he's not terrible on that end either.

~14 FGA is a lot to pay for good (but not elite) shooting and good (but not elite) defense, but I had some FGA to spare.

I was a little surprised you didn’t take Gasol in rounds 3 or 4.

Glad you didn’t, mind you.

Bosh/Gasol were always options. But when I realized Melo was my guy, I pivoted to a nice bench piece (Caruso).
