They fired Griffin, only to replace him with a dollar store Masai. Was Troy Weaver not available?

Not sure what makes the two of them (Dumars and Masai) similar other than that they did poorly with their jobs the last years they had them.

Lots of GM's have that same profile.

Throwing Troy in there is particularly confusing as he never had success as a GM.

Masai & Dumars have very similar profiles in many ways. Both were regarded as 'geniuses' who got their teams a title, but in hindsight they both kind of caught lightning in a bottle and couldn't replicate it. The latter part of their careers showed such poor judgement, that you really had to rethink how good they actually were to begin with, and how much of it was luck.

Troy is there because if you're going to hire a retread candidate who proved to be bad, why not just commit and hire the most horrible one.
