Trade recommendations you would make for another team.

Post#1 » by coolcono » Wed Apr 16, 2025 6:00 pm

Looking as an outsider at the Suns, I feel the team should have no qualms about trading Devin Booker should a nice package be offered. "But he is a young and upcoming superstar!" He only did well after he got several stars in his lineups, so that is a bit misleading.

Orlando has got to get a decent PG. It's just painful to watch, and it's beyond ridiculous that Cory Joseph is good enough as their starting PG to send them on a run of wins.

I actually wonder how much a team would pay for Booker. Rockets are about to get multiple lotto picks out of the Suns...would they give all of them up for Book? I wouldnt.

I think what you mean, is like every player save a handful, is his team starting winning more as the talent around him increased. Did KG suddenly get good at basketball again in 2008 after 3 years of being bad or was just the Minny roster a disaster? Did Kobe get a lot better at basketball again the same year when Pau arrived?

Now if you have some doubts about him that's fine. Nobody thinks he's a guy who leads franchises to titles a la Lebron, Curry, Jokic, Giannis though. He's another tier or two down.

Still a pretty darn good offensive player. And if you are pointing out this season, the context of what a mess that roster is, and how they turn over coaches every year etc seems somewhat relevant.

Not just his team missing the playoffs he must not be very good.

Prime Lillard would have been great on ORL.

I assume he means that Booker is an "empty stats" player. I don't agree as he put numbers up in the playoffs as well. His run vs Denver a couple of years ago was amazing-even though the Suns lost. Booker put number up all the way to the Finals and in the Finals as well. I place the blame on losing to MIL on Mikal Bridges and Monty Williams for that one.

Coby White for Orlando. Give up Black+ if you have to; a White-Suggs backcourt could put them right there with the best of the best in this league...plus you could stagger their rest so that one of them is always out there to guide the offense.

Orlando needs perimeter scoring from their supporting cast. A lot of it.

You can't expect to do anything with a Paolo/Wagner top 2 if you surround them with more Paolo/Wagner level shooters. I know the Magic love his defense but I think eventually Suggs finds himself the odd man out and they go after a real offensive point guard.

Suggs isn’t a point guard (on offense) anyway. He’s a small 2 that can and should guard the 1. Orlando just needs a biggish PG that can run an offense and guard the 2. No need to give up on Suggs, he’s a culture-setter.

Given how cheap he should be because of Boston’s situation, they should consider Jrue. Yes, they still need more shooting, but if you’re going to keep leaning into that defensive identity, it would work. They just need Mo back and a bunch of bench players that can shoot. In this scenario, they should be able to keep Black as a 3rd guard, he’s coming along nicely.

Houston needs to trade for Durant.

If Minnesota can find a sucker to take Gobert, they should move him.

No way should ORL consider Jrue, who's hardly more of a scorer than Suggs and hardly more of a PG and very expensive, particularly considering his age. I don't think BOS is able to trade Jrue or KP (for financial reasons) and still maintain their contender status...White, is still young enough to garner a return that makes sense.

Jrue is a fine player, but IF ORL chooses to spend that kind of salary money- they should aim higher and longer-term, regardless of the cost of obtaining him.

How about Goga Bitadze for Deuce McBride + PJ Tucker's contract if Orlando doesn't want to spend for a higher quality starting guard? Kid's not much of a playmaker, as he's more of a mini-Suggs, but he has experience playing off a playmaking forward and Deuce's D would fit right in on the Magic, while his 3pt shooting would be a desperate help.

I had not thought of Jrue to Orlando, but that could be a good one: they need someone who can organise and attack, and Jrue can certainly do that.

I had thought of Jrue to DET because I'd love to see how our young defenders, particularly Ausar, could learn from Jrue. The major downsides are that we'd have to match with Harris and alos (more importantly) his last season would overlap with the 1st season of Ausar's rookie extension.

I agree that Suggs isn't a PG on offence. On D, I thought Suggs was on track to make All-NBA-D: I think he can cover 1s, 2s and some 3s because he is really strong as well as being an absolute force at the POA

I like Deuce, but he is more of a replacement for Cole Anthony. If McBride can't run the attack with Orlando's starters, Orlando will still be looking for the guy who can.

The offense would definitely still flow through whichever of their star forwards was on the court, as I said Deuce would be a mini-Suggs, but I think Deuce would be an upgrade to KCP next to Suggs, and a better Suggs stand-in than Cole. Black's offensive growth could be a big x-factor in all of this, if they refuse to pay up for a more dynamic PG.

I'd rather pay more for a better on ball creator. I also think Orlando just loses value on this as Goga is a straight up better player.

I'd try and grab Coby White with the 2 1sts they have this year. If thats not enough, i'd look at Sexton

Oh if you look up thread I agree. I'd even give up Black for Coby if that's what it took...I'm a big Coby White fan and think he'd be fantastic for them...but if they continue to refuse to pay much for a guard upgradae, I think Deuce could be a great fit for what they do and I don't have a read on how to value Deuce v Goga in a vacuum, both have just been spot starters so far with Deuce's versatility easier to fit into a teams rotation if there isn't a specific need.

Sexton would be a nifty upgrade too...though with his defense, I think he'd be more of a 6th man upgrade than a potential starter upgrade, despite being a better creator than Deuce.

A better creator is what they need. Someone who can run a PnR, and id sacrifice some defense for it.
