In soccer terms, Giddey & Coby are both luxury players -- meaning highly skilled offensive players who don't defend. You can't have 2 guys like that in your starting lineup if you want to be a good team. You just can't. And of the two, Giddey is the true talent. Shooting guards are common, but not 6' 8" PGs who are triple double threats.

The problem is that Coby is streaky. When he's on he's good. The other issue is that he only has one more year on his deal. Coby at 12 million is good. 30 million? Not so good.

They must love being stuck with bunch of one way players who can't defend against hard competition and no real cores to build around.

It's not AKMEs goal and it wasn't Gar/Pax goal. It's Reinsdorfs goal, it's all on ownership. He wants medicore teams with low payrolls and no large long term contracts. AKME and Gar/Pax got handcuffed. You can't build a team when you cant take on bad contracts to get draft picks. The only trades Reinsdorf allows are trades he financially wins.... usually salary dumps.

I have to apologize everyone. I cancelled my subscription after the Zach trade. I didn't watch a single game after that and we started playing well. Then I made the mistake of watching tonight. We were down by 25 and I left to pick up my wife and kids from the park. When I got back, we were only down by 13. Unfortunately I watched the rest of the game and we lost by quite a bit.

This is completely on my shoulders and I feel terrible.

Despite that, I'll still watch as many games as a I can, mostly because I hate myself.

This Coby performance reminds me of lot Zach’s weaknesses. Especially the inability to run the offense and horrendous defense.

Zach was a much better defender

And shooter. And overall scorer.

He's just a much better player as a whole, but everyone loves Coby and hates Zach. Will they still love him when he's getting paid a max salary and still getting bounced in the play-in?

I like Coby a lot, but he's not that guy. He'd be a fantastic 3rd option.
