Timberwolves last season:

With KAT 42-20 (68%)
Without KAT 19-1 (95%)

People bring on the Timberwolves season as a kind of prove of KAT being very net positive but if you look at their season more closely--including playoffs-- you get why the Timberwolves traded him after making the WCF.

KD on the Suns this season: 33-29
without KD: 3-17

in 22/23:
Suns with KD: 8-0
without him: 37-37

KAT is a bigtime defensive liability. Like I said he will need to dominate teams on offense to make up for that. Characterwise I like KAT much more than KD and I hope he succeeds here but even in 3 years KD's impact will be much bigger than KAT. I don't have anything against KAT personally but people saying he is better than KD at this point just conveniently disregard all the trouble KAT poses defensively. Keep in mind the Timberwolves last year were a nasty defensive squad outside Towns....they surrounded him with Conley-Edwards-McDaniels and Gobert....that's elite defense...we on the other side have another defensive liability in the line-up. We won't be able to overcome that and eventually (after next season) you'll see Leon achnowledge that fact and trade KAT for more defense minded players or better fits.

But overall KD will either end up in Minny or Houston---I think there is less than 0.1% chance he ends up here. Especially after his most recent comments.

everything you said.....but also, i'm not sure the suns would take kat. it might make booker happy but their defense was their biggest problem (4th worst in the league) and i'm sure even the basketball minds there can figure out that adding kat will only make it worse. how the brain trust here failed to recognize this is another story.

The Wolves won 56 games, they were 14-6 last year without KAT, not 19-1. They were 49-33 this year and had a worse net rating as a team withot him and somehow their defense got worse vs last season.

The KD stuff isn't going to happen, but some of the points being made don't really hold water. KD has been a trainwreck in the playoffs on defense the last couple seasons, this isn't prime KD, this isn't even peak KD, this is KD that has been swept two times in his last 3 playoff appearances in large part because he cannot guard anyone, for all the talk about KATs defense it's comical that they actually guarded one another in the playoffs and KAT got the better of that matchup.

Yeah you are right I mixed it up---thought they won 61 games last season for some reason. Let's see how this pans out with KAT in the playoffs. I'm rooting for him and like him but he must aggressively score really. We all should be rooting for him and Bridges---a good playoff showing is always not only a great confidence boost but also a great trade value boost. Hoping KAT can get 25/10 throughout...

The Wolves won 56 games, they were 14-6 last year without KAT, not 19-1. They were 49-33 this year and had a worse net rating as a team withot him and somehow their defense got worse vs last season.

Heck no to KD to NY.

Now if we take part in a 3-way trade that gets KAT to PHX (to appease his buddy Booker), KD + a Phx 1st rounder to Houston, and then Sengun + Smith Jr. (or Eason) to NY then maybe... maybe you got something to talk about.

I've been Team Şengün for a while now. After losing I-Hart, I thought Şengün would be the perfect replacement. I fell for the sauce when I read somewhere randomly Ime wasn't a fan of Şengün before he signed that extension. This was before the KAT trade. Seemed like it was just smoke, though.

Let's see how they do in the playoffs... maybe they'd consider a KAT/Deuce for Sengun/Smith straight up swap and then they turn around and flip Green plus Shephard for KD or something. Ime gets what Ime wants.

yeah, they have suns picks in 27/29 and the suns have a good chance of being real bad. that's what the suns will want. they'll hold out for booker before giving them picks up.

How does KD help the Knicks?

We suck defensively - specifically with no rim protection.

We have no bench to speak of.

What does 37 year old injury prone Kevin Durant at $54 million do for us?
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Does it tho

I feel like Knick fans refuse to learn from history or the misfortune of other teams, I'm almost certain we could go into the Suns forum find an old thread and people would be saying Cam Johnson & Bridges for KD works as well

Yeah this is what i mean.

Brooklyn and Phoenix have been sent to the dark ages after dealing with Durant. Everything he touches seems to die.

Leon and Wes need to be tampering with Giannis (pause???) as we speak. He's the guy that raises the ceiling

Knicks don’t have enough for a Giannis package, but they might have enough for a KD package.

We suck defensively - specifically with no rim protection.

We have no bench to speak of.

What does 37 year old injury prone Kevin Durant at $54 million do for us?

He doesn't. I can't see Leon taking that gamble. This team he's assembled is all under 30, essentially. He's in this for the long haul with a team entering it's prime... not one passed its prime.

We'd be adding a GOAT shooter as a 3rd option

And the situation here would be significantly better than what he had in Brooklyn and Phoenix. No Ben Simmons, vaccines, Bradley Beal, or questionable FOs and coaches, players playing outside their roles.

KD fits like a hand in a glove. If the Knicks can get him while retaining Brunson and KAT, they need to make this happen.

Age is only a number. Modern medicine and doctors have come a long way, especially for rich athletes that have access to basically everything.

I do get the skepticism regarding injuries. But I don't get questioning his age. The only thing that hurt KD's game is these fundamentally flawed organizations. 2 times he was on a team with basically no PG or leadership. The Knicks excel in both departments.
