Re: Nico Harrison decides to double down on stupid
NBA has once again allowed the landscape of the NBA to move to let Curry/Lebron have one more go at it.
Completely rigged.
The Lakers landing Luka allows them to remain relavent for the foreseeable future. In part i suspect due to the brand and their new stadium naming rights.
the NBA should be renamed the NLA: National Lakers Association.

He’s a ****ing idiot. Ruined that whole franchise. Only way to save it - is a full cleanse. He has to go. Everyone. Start over. If they don’t - they did all this to move the team.

To admit fault in the trade is essentially to imply public doubt in AD and his ability to lead a contending team, or at the very least to imply his views on the players they got back have changed.
It’s entirely possible he’s still oblivious, but his way is set and there’s really no choice but to respond like this even if he regrets it.
The problem is that he made the deal in the first place. And he still deserves all the criticism in the world for that.
He told „time will tell“ if the trade was right…what will happen: he hopes for a miracle in the next 2-3 years, validating him…or just blame it on Irving’s injury and bad luck that his awesome plan didn’t work. Ignoring the da t that he shortened the window for zero reaosons

Believe me when I tell you I am not trying to defend the Mavs' decision to trade Doncic. I just think there is a rationale, and it's probably a combination of Doncic's persona and the realities of locking the Mavs into the 2nd apron with Doncic and no flexibility to adjust the roster. We're seeing this play out almost in real time with Jokic in Denver and Booker in Phoenix.
Harrison and the Mavs have no choice but to double and triple down to infinity. You don't think Harrison is going to come out and say, "yeah, maybe I f'd that one up." If I had been in Harrison's shoes, I think I would have quit on the spot rather than be the guy who traded Doncic...TO THE LAKERS.

Defense does not win championships. Golden State just got like a million running illegal screens and chucking 3's.

I'll never be given a fair shot by the fans in Dallas and everyone will always look at me as the face of the moment they traded away a history franchise player.
I hope he demands a trade. There is no winning for him in Dallas either. For me personal,i not even want his ass in a mavs jersey after what he did in New Orleans, including "i didnt pick my own cloths". I have zero respect for him since then...well, i can see now why Nico is a big fan of him, they are both cowards.
The Mavs can trade him for a bag of rice.
AD's value is high. Wait until either OKC or the Rockets flame out in the playoffs and sell him to one of them for a haul.
Nico and AD are close and AD likes to supposedly be there, I don’t see him asking out. He would return a decentish haul if they ever traded him, but that’s not realistic.

Re: Nico Harrison decides to double down on stupid
I was a Mavs fan long before Luka.
I loved Luka and think he is an other worldly player. Genuinely, possibly the most gifted basketball player of all time.
But I don’t give a **** that he’s been traded. If the Mavs decided to go another way, fine. It’s understandable.
What isn’t understandable is trading him from a position of strength for a platter of **** from the Lakers having nit even spoken to another team.
This isn’t about Luka no longer being a Mav. It’s the shady **** that’s gone down to gift wrap him to the Lakers.

Dude tanked the entire franchise by trading a top-4 player in the world/generational Superstar at just 25 years old to the NBA's most popular team/market and their biggest cash-cow for a broken down 32 year-old big man nicknamed "Street Clothes" and 1 FRP. That's it. No other players or draft capital. Didn't even shop him around to create a bidding war so he could take the highest return. Nothing. Just a worse, older, and more injury-prone player who's past his prime + 1 FRP that is projected to be late in the 1st Round. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.![]()

Oh yes, this is just the distraction the Mavs needed right before their play in game. If it leads the Mavs to lose this moronic statement might actually be the first thing Nico has done right since the trade, stay in the lottery

Mavs = Titanic (which is a good thing because the faster that reality is accepted by Mavs fans, the faster fans can create real action / leverage). Having hope with these clowns running the ship is false hope, just wasted energy and a diversion from reality. It will never get better with this ownership and FO. They cement that fact every single time they open their mouth. Who's actually surprised Nico said more stupid sht? Dude is mentally challenged. Add Rick Welts into the mix. He wanted to make sure his dumba** was included in the circus.
What a sad fall after just being in the Finals and having a 25 yr old superstar presumably for the next decade
So incompetent and dysfunctional that it wreaks of corruption / collusion / rigged / move to Vegas etc
As an NBA fan this trade is horrible for the NBA because it really makes it seem rigged ('cause what person with a functional brain would ever make this trade?) and hurts the integrity of the game, or at minimum affects the perception of that a ton.
At the same time, the Mavs owner and FO continue to show that they are absolutely clueless and scumbags. Can they really be this stupid? Look at these interviews - absolute idiots. "Yeah uhh we don't really care about are fans derrrrr." Like what are you doing. What dumbsht says that.
Let's assume it's not rigged...
Then what?
I see this politically. Corrupt, trash leaders vs decent people. So what do you? Vote them out. You hit back.
What's gonna make the biggest impact over time? Protest + Boycotts. Fire Nico chants are awesome. But Mavs fans should be convincing other
fans to stop going to games and stop buying merchandise. Boycott boycott boycott. Any Mavs fan that goes to a game is a traitor. The faster that happens, the faster they sell. Mavs fans need to make it so uncomfortable for Dumont, Nico, and Welts that their reputations are completely ruined and they are the laughing stock of society.
"But it's just sports, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this"
Sports aren't just sports, they're gathering spots for thousands to join up and unite behind something, their families making memories together, etc. I don't need to preach all the value of sports. If this team has given you any genuine enjoyment over the years, then fight back. F these people. Trash like Dumont and Nico. They are the trash of society, whether they're billionaires or homeless idc. Run their azz out of town like the cowards they are.
Fans have all the leverage, not these clowns.

Prime Luka 5/345 baaaaad
33-35y „Street cloths“ 3/185 gooood
It was never an issue. Paying your superstar the supermax.
Denver has problems not because of Jokic, it’s because they gave Murray basically the same money
The problem in Phoenix isn’t Bookers contract, it’s Beals.
If you see the remaining years on Davis contract, then you know it’s another horsecrap argument. Mavs had plenty flexibility with all the contracts running out in 2026…

It sounds like this Nico guy is totally clueless. I have no idea how he got that job. I guess the hope was that he had relationships around the league. Unfortunately, relationships don’t make someone magically understand how to put a team together. The reporter is right. He not only gave a younger most likely a HOFer player, he did it shortening any kind of window (not that I believe there is one even with a healthy roster) while being out of own future picks. You destroyed your team’s present chances and also future. It is truly mind boggling

Re: Nico Harrison decides to double down on stupid
The moves that Nico had been making prior to this do not indicate he was planning to trade Luka. What’s obvious is that the new owners told Nico to trade Luka. My speculation is that they want to cut salary and not be tied to a supermax contract. Eventually they want to move the team to Vegas so any goodwill they can intentionally destroy fits that purpose to facilitate the move. Nico then reluctantly reached out to his mentor Pelinka who then took advantage of his mentee being in a vulnerable situation and squeezed him. This could explain why he wasn’t shopped around and max assets were not received. Either way, Nico should not be a GM.

What’s harder to trade, Luka with the supermax or 33y Davis sitting on a 3/175m contract?
