KPJ has played pretty well but I think some are falling into the trap of March/April basketball. He's looked good, but let's pump the breaks and win a series before we worry about whether other teams might try to sign mid-20s role players from first round playoff teams with troubled pasts.

I think the vast majority of people here have acknowledged that the playoffs will have a huge impact on his market value. But for now, we have a pretty good chunk of evidence to suggest that he will be sought after to some degree. There just aren't many players in the nba who have his combination of skills.

What are the Bucks biggest needs for next year? What positions would fans target for upgrade?

Things can change fast, but as of now I’m most interested in a couple forwards and a center. Hopefully one of those forwards has versatility for both the 3 and the 4.

Highest priority would be retaining Rollins and KPJ, though.

A younger guard rotation of Rollins, KPJ and Green is a very nice base. If you’re keeping Dame, then the guards are even less of a concern.

It really depends on who we bring back of our many pending FAs, but right now I'd say probably versatile defensive wing and a big-bodied C.

I want some information with this. Let’s say Bucks use the MLE for KPJ and the BAE for GTJ. I know that they will be hard capped at 195 mil 1st apron. What I don’t know is what’s the max they can offer to Rollins at that case.

Rollins is a RFA and his QO will be at 2.8 mil. Can Bucks offer him a multi year contract without using an exception? Can Bucks match a multi year offer without using an exception? What’s the most Horst can offer.

Being a non-Bird RFA is a bit tricky to me. I need a cap expert for that.

Pipe Dream - Myles Turner or Naz Reid

Realistic - any wings or guards that can knock down 3s and play defense. Another Sims type if were re signing Brook, if not a replacement.

A Brook replacement.

Unless we just desperately need to open up cap space, there's no acceptable scenario I can see where Brook isn't back on the roster next season. He's too important as a regular season minutes eater and it's crazy how good he still is at 37. You give him one more 2-year deal and let him retire a Buck.

It's incredible how much of an iron man he's been given his recent back surgery. Though he's going to be 38 next season.

Just for fun, I've been playing with the trade machines. Blazers could likely offer a trade centered around Shaedon Sharp, Matice Thybulle and Deandre Ayton. That package works in the checker with Dame and Kuzma (if the Blazers added Grant), and a minimal filler.

I'm not saying the Bucks should do that type of deal, but in theory, there are several variables that could work.

Because this is his 3rd NBA season, he's not subject to the Arenas rule, but his 2 way time counts for Bird rights, so we do have Early Bird rights on him, which means we can sign him for up to 105% of the league average salary. So, basically, the non-tax MLE, without using that exception on him.

I'd do that but your fellow Portlander is about to storm in and nix it for including Sharpe. And, frankly, he's got a point. Not sure why you'd do this.

I've been an Ayton defender in the past but that's some absolute nightmare salary to eat just for Shaedon Sharpe. Gross and no thank you.

Basketball reference has deal expiring next year. To get someone like Sharpe it'd be an easy yes given Ayton's expiring contract. It could help us going out as we might be able to use that giant expiring contract to send out plus our 31 to target a higher salary player.

I'm more concerned about the absolute albatross Jerami Grant contract and Thybulle's dead money player option.

That’s excellent news regarding Rollins.

I was completely under the impression that the most we could offer was the 2.8 QO, and was anticipating we’d have to roll him into the MLE or BAE to get to a higher number.

Thybulle is an expiring as well. In the original post he mentions Grant if we throw in Kuz so I'm working on the assumption we aren't going that route. If we exclude Grant, it's a deal I would definitely seriously consider I just don't know why they would

It's a gross offer. Grant has the worst contract in the NBA. Ayton's settled in to being a pedestrian starting 5 option. He's expiring, but the Grant deal prevents you from having real cap space to build around Giannis. Sharpe's good but not shooting or passing effectively. Where are our picks for the troubles? In lieu of that, I'm looking for other deals, or keeping Dame if this is the best we get (his return helps his trade value).
