Re: Post Mortem #11 - Chicago Bulls
treadmill team, they are trying to rebuild i guess but they aren't really bad enough to compete with the Washingtons and the Utahs of the world. I assume they try to offload Vuc in the summer (who wants him?), re-sign Giddey to a massive number and try to extend Coby White. I would try to trade White for something good if they can, he had a good season and a team like Orlando would love to have a creating guard like that.
Expecting another 9th-11th seed finish for them next year.

Just a small objection from me, if the Bulls actually tried to tank like the Jazz did, they would absolutely be bad enough to compete with the Jazz.
If the Jazz actually gave a damn and fought for wins, that squad had the talent to get 35+ wins, and with the Mavs' implosion, could have even made the play in, like the Bulls.
I think the Jazz went for the better approach and we'll see the results of it in the next few years.

Bulls have nothing once you take transition from them.

Well, this season wasn't a complete failure - they got rid of Lavine and they got their pick back from the Spurs. But this season went about as expected. Bulls have been the definition of a treadmill team since Jordan retired minus a couple years during D-Rose's tenure

A disappointing finish to what was a hot ending to the season for them. I was leaning towards thinking maybe Billy Donovan wasn't doing such a bad job after all but after that embarrassment last night he should probably go. They're right in that dreaded treadmill territory right now
Where's the post mortem for the Kings? I have some bile for them after they extended this season's misery for my team

Performing as expected on the treadmill.
I will say it's good they moved on from their DeRozan/LaVine core and while I'm not surprised, it is a step in the right direction for them to realize that those stars were literally not having an impact for the team.
They absolutely need to fire Arturas at GM, and then they need to let their new GM pick his coach.

Just wanted to say: I'm not under any illusion that anything can make you happy with the season, but the Mavs still being alive sans Kyrie really shows that basketball-wise, the Luka trade isn't actually the most incompetent thing a GM could do. That territory absolutely belong to the Kings.
Of course, Mavs management's betrayal of their fanbase is basically off-the-charts only matched by the Sonics leaving Seattle.

I think Utah would be better if they tried but i don't think they would be THAT much better. They don't really have any good guards. Who are the best guards on the team? Keyonte George (39% from teh field),Colin Sexton (career backup) or Isaiah Collier (did really well for my fantasy team)?

Re: Post Mortem #11 - Chicago Bulls
Team has nothing worth building around besides Buzelis and I remain skeptical that he's someone to build around. Tough place to be. This is the team that should have tanked, but the Reinsdorfs are just competitive enough to make a mint/while never paying the tax. Take away Michael Jordan's years, and this franchise is one of the worst in professional basketball.

That's really not true. They did do a total teardown in the early 00s (21 win average for half decade) and it was a total failure. I bring that up because a lot of people, not necessarily you, think a total teardown assures success.
Abolish the draft. Abolish the rookie scale. Make teams try to win.

A Kings fan may hate the team's owner but they believe they want a winning team in Sacramento by contrast Mavs fans question their team's motive.
I'm a knicks fan. The angriest I got with Dolan was when he considered bringing Isiah back for the WNBA after he ran the knicks into the ground and committed sexual harassment.
Even then I'm not sure my anger with the Knicks reached what mavs fans feel.
Every component of the Luka trade was horrific:
1. Giving away a top 5 player voluntarily.
2. giving him away for someone worse/older.
3. not shopping him.
4. not maximizing your return on the trade for the older/worse guy.
5. giving him away to the glamour club.
If I was a Mavs fan I'd legit considering bailing and I don't know how mavs fix that. And I wouldn't give a **** if the club won 49 games next year.
Abolish the draft. Abolish the rookie scale. Make teams try to win.

They took a step in right direction. Dump Vucevic next

I go back and forth on trading White-I think Orl would be interested.
But, we won't-we'll draft at #12 and pray for the best

It's hard to look objectively after a bad loss, but I see this season as a success for this team. They're still a treadmill team record-wise, but the difference is they did it with young players and lots of financial flexibility. It's a huge improvement over this time last year.

Re: Post Mortem #11 - Chicago Bulls
As a Bulls fan, I am happier than I have been in a while. It's possible that Giddey & Matas could become the #2 and #3 players (don't know which order) on a strong team. Giddey already reached that quality in the final 2 months of the season, and while Matas looks and plays like a 20 year old, at least he looks and plays like a potential star. He's a gifted athlete with height, hops, a handle, a 36% 3 point shot, and a competitive mindset.
Those two guys may not reach that level, of course, and even if they do the Bulls wouldn't really be something without landing a true #1, but it's a helluva lot better where we have been in recent years -- riding the nowhere train with Zach, DeMar, and Vuc.
