Vegas is dope.

For a millionaire it's literally the perfect location. Gambling and Nightlife. Most importantly only a few hour drive to LA. That's a millionaire's dream. My only complaint is the weather. It can get hot in the desert.

I said it's a resort posing as a city, nothing you said contradicts that.

Vegas is dope. :D

The season is over by the time triple digits arrive, and the players are on vacation traveling the world. The season starts just as it begins to cool down. You could be an NBA player and never see a 110-degree day in Vegas.

Time to let the Kentucky Colonels in the NBA!!

That is the big advantage for Vegas. In contract, Vancouver's summer (NBA offseason) weather is terrific, but while there are many colder NBA cities it is overcast, rainy and generally very dark in winter with very short days (right now Portland is the furthest north NBA team so Vancouver is much further north than any current team).

Seattle and another Canadian team would be awesome, but we all know it will be Vegas.

A Vegas team would instantly jump to that LA, Miami level of market desirability for players. It’s a guaranteed hit in my opinion.

Would love to see Vancouver, but I don’t know of any serious potential ownership groups. I feel like Vancouver would only get a team if someone bought an existing franchise and relocated them there.

I know domestic expansion is happening but it is a big mistake. there is no case for domestic expansion based on the US entering a region that doesn't have a team. Even the sparsely populated regions of the US now have a team.

The only long-term case for domestic expansion is generating revenue during the RS from local cable deals and ticket sales. That's a mistake because the cable model is collapsing and the importance of ticket sales is in decline.

Outside the NFL in American sports the only teams that generate national interests are those with historic brands such as the Lakers or Yankees and those with marquees superstars.

When you expand the number of teams you reduce the percentage of games that have either a historic brand or marquees superstar.

The next round of expansion should be a European Division and that should only happen when there 6-9 cities ready for teams.

Vegas has grown as a city. It’s very affordable to live there and actually a lot of Native Hawaiians have moved there because it’s more affordable and people in Hawaii refer to it as the 9th island.

It’s not like all the people going to Black Knight and Raider games are tourists.

Vancouver would be cool also though.

Whether it's TV or streaming, expansion will be based upon underserved broadcast markets. A secondary criteria is the ability to sell suites. History may also count as Cinci, St Louis, and KC all had and lost teams. Louisville was in the ABA.

The nfl model is different, They have two broadcast contracts and give the biggest broadcast markets a team in each contract,

If that did happen, it would be Memphis moving there I imagine (not that I want the Grizz to move, I don't).

Not when there's already a team in Memphis.

Memphis is kinda its own thing consisting of Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee fans on the West side of the state a full 3 hour drive from Nashville. Nashville has a lot of money and interest. They already support an NFL, NHL, and MLS teams.

If expansion happens in Nashville before places like Seattle, Vancouver, or Las Vegas, people will lose their minds.

Doesn't matter how different Nashville and Memphis are culturally, it's not going to happen.
