First article I read from yahoo predicts Celtics in 4. Their reasoning? Their starting F are better and Boston actually has depth.

Gosh I love it / hate it when I share opinions with predictions.

Well see though, really depends on Franz and Paolo + can anyone our team remember that to win a game you must also put a ball in the hole.

Does our recent success prove that Weltman made the right decision at the deadline?

Absolutely not.

Beating Boston at least 3 times might suggest he got it mostly right. But even then, and it's a huge if, I still maintain he's screwed up more than he's gotten right.

But, I've been avoiding posting here as I'm just trying to be positive and focused on the games rather than the roster mess.

GO MAGIC!

(and please also go Weltman)

Damn... he would have EASILY hit those numbers in his first 3 seasons if he didn't get injured.

Absolutely not...injuries were significant but also overcome with surprising star turns from Franz and others. If he had picked up a Simons or Coby White, for example, for basically Cole (+Jett or Gary) and pick(s), he might have been the second star with Franz while Paolo was out, or with Paolo while Franz was out, etc...he could have risen (like Cole does 5x yearly) perhaps 10 times and scored us to wins where we had losses. The difference of a handful of wins in the East puts us in an entirely different seeding and space in the league...where we expected to be this year. Basically, the add could have offset the subtraction of the injuries and we could have been a "surprising 4th or 5th seed because of injuries" instead of a "surprise to even get to the 7th seed/play-in considering the injuries". Then, when (relatively) healthy -like we are now, despite Moe and Suggs, we'd be that much more dangerous, heading into the playoffs, IMO...not to mention building on it going into next season.

That being said, counterpoint might be that without having to resort to a TRUE PURE (if very limited) PG in CoJo - we might never have found the recent unselfish ball movement that has made us suddenly relevant. As much as I push for Simons, etc...it's possible that they might not have affected our style of offensive play in the same way...the shooting and scoring is for real, but it might have been 3 guys taking turns iso-ing (improvement, but still limited).

We kept our assets, we made the playoffs, we didnt worsen our chemistry, and we found that we dont have to break the bank for scoring guard like
Simons, Sexton, Coby to win games.
Its hard to tell if he was right, we will know more after offseason. If we can aquire a good pg without ovespending he was right(or great with some overspending).
What i can tell is that at least he didnt make a mistake. Look at kings. They did what majority of posters here want. Move assets at every window. They are done.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Does he look like play-in KCP, because I’ll pass on that. We need last 20 regular season game KCP.

If Suggs and Moe didn't get injured, this team would have matched if not done better than last season. Weltman didn't get injured, his players did. But, they do need better shooters. Players who shot well last year didn't this year.

Why has everyone shot so much better in the last few weeks...not just coincidentally, the ball is moving because the offensive flow has changed. We've had "shooters" all along - why did they all go South at the same time and start to recover at the same time?

Suggs and KCP are so redundant, but Suggs would have put up a few more points. Moe's absence really hurt the bench offense, but in the last couple weeks, they seem reborn...I think it's all a thematic change in the offense. Moe, Suggs, and basically everyone other than our two iso-stars would have continued to look bad without the enhanced ball movement that makes everyone look good.

as usual, with our PG debates...winner is just the tallest midget. We don't have a meaningful PG.

No.

There hasn't been any *actual* recent success. They just had a very soft closing schedule.

They finished 10-4, but they only beat 1 playoff team that was actually playing players (home against the Lakers).

Return to Orlando Magic
