Jrue lite. I agree its a must.

Its not. He's not even the solution at point guard. At the end of the day they are a 10th seed under 500 play in team that's about to get whooped by the Cavs. No role player for that team is a must. He's great being an energy guy and swing games. But they need to a playmaking point guard to raise this team's long term floor and ceiling. A guy you are not pegging as a starter can't be a must if you are a bad to mediocre team.

I really like Davion but I agree he's not full time starter material unless the team is already elite. He plays with his head down, which is awesome for gritty defense, but so many times on offense he'll get past his man and not see anybody besides possibly whoever is open to his right. He does not dribble with his head up.

Bams in the Chris Bosh role, he’s not used as a top scoring option until someone is out and Spo is forced to move him up the totem pole

I agree it would be a mistake but there are many legitimate reasons we might not retain him that would be understandable.

Remember that Mitchell is still an RFA who will be extended the QO. And the only reason he wouldn’t be back is if a team offers him 20mm/year, which probably isn’t going to happen (most likely!). At that point, you let him go and wish him well.

But in the 13-16mm range as I stated earlier, you happily bring him back. That’s a fair deal.

Wiggins is not a role player.
If you check, he is 189th in NBA all time scorers list while he just turned 30. He is projected to end in the top 80 scorers of all time.

Warriors used him as a sidekick because of their system and Curry, Green, Thompson etc.

Heat want more from him and he will provide them more.

He played through injuries all this time for the Heat and played many games limping.
He scored 42 pts and 30pts while limping the whole game.

I expect him to step up against Cavs.

After what Nico Harrison did, I'm not discounting anything.

Heat vs Cavs playoffs finally happening! Except Wade is now retired and Lebron is on another team.

Someone start a hype thread for round 1!

Some great moments in Heat/Cavs history!

Garland/Mitchell vs herro/Burks

That's a tough back court match up in the next round.

Mobley/Allen vs bam and ware should be a good one.

From your mouth to gods ears. I hope he can step up and be that 1a or 1b guy with Herro. He did it in the Finals thats for sure can he do it again? We shall find out!

This video is soooo good.

Watch Davion just own Trae Young.

He caps it by missing the 3 then racing past a **** lazy ass piece of **** in Trae Young, extends the play, and ends up cashing a 3. That is one of the most beautiful sequences Ive ever seen. **** perfect.

Its an awesome matchup. This will be more fun than getting crushed by Boston last year.

Oh man, at the end of the Davion video, you see him flexing and screaming after hitting that nuclear bomb 3, and the slow mo shows Herro waving goodbye to the Hawks fans. That was pretty sweet.

Being a finalist for DPOY when your team finished as the 17th best defense and didn’t even make the playoffs is going to be an interesting one

And its an achievement for Herro. Nonsense aside, DD is a quality defender. He moves extremely well. Herro keeps proving himself.

That take is really out of context. Sure, they finished 10th, but the Herro/DM backcourt posted a +5.7 net rating over 642 minutes ; that’s not looking like a fluke.

Davion’s been the best guard they’ve had next to Tyler. He brings defensive intensity, averages 5.3 assists to just 1.7 turnovers, knocks down threes, and actually complements Herro’s game instead of overlapping with it.

He’s clearly the best fit they’ve found alongside Tyler.

The only real concern might be size, but beyond that, Davion checks every box you'd want in a guard next to Herro and you’re not getting a better one without paying a steep price.
