Mavs/Lakers/Magic

Post#1 » by Astaluego » Sat Apr 19, 2025 9:34 am

MAVS
In:Reaves/KCP/WCJ/Knecht/Lakers 31/Magic 25
Out:Powell/Hardy/Martín/Lively/Christie/Klay/MAVS 25

WCJ/Gafford
AD/O-Max
Washington/Marshall
KCP/Knecht
Reaves/*Irving

They adjust, they get a center who is more dynamic and offers better space for AD to operate, they get an All-Star caliber guard who could also play alongside Klay when he returns and a solid 3D veteran. They drop a few spots in the Draft but get another unprotected future pick, for a possible future reshuffle.

LAKERS
In: Christie/Lively/Hardy
Out:Reaves/Knecht/Lakers31

They better adjust the team to Luka (assuming they fail in the Playoffs) by getting 2 good young defenders in positions of need.

MAGIC
In:Klay/Powell/Martín/MAVS 25
Out:KCP/WCJ/Magic FRP

The league's worst 3-point team gets a top-three shooter of all time, and moves up a few spots in the draft.

I think Christie can't go back to the Lakers until February 1st.
I hope the Mavs rebuild, so I'd want to keep Lively, I don't think Lakers owe 31 1st in that exchange, if you replace Christie with PJ, then Lakers should be all over it, Reaves/31 1st for PJ/Lively would be a great deal for them.

Well yes, I like your proposal more and it makes more sense since PJ will be expiring and I'm not sure they want to extend him. According to reports, they are going to extend KI (or at least that's what Dallas intends) for 3 years, matching the contracts of KI/AD (and Nico). In this scenario, I think they should get a good value for Lively. Playing alongside AD doesn't work and will only lose value in my opinion.

I like it for DAL and LAL but I think the return is a bit light for ORL…since Gafford is reduced to a backup role anyway, Christie can’t go back to LAL…

ORL adds Goga to DAL
DAL sends Gafford & Christie to ORL
Klay goes to LAL to finish his career in glory, playing off of Luka & LBJ

LAL sends: Reaves to DAL, Hachimura to ORL
LAL gets: Lively, Klay, Martin

DAL sends: Lively, Klay, Martin to LAL, Gafford to ORL
DAL gets: Reaves, WCJ, Goga, Howard

ORL sends: WCJ, Goga, Jett Howard to DAL
ORL gets: Gafford, Hachimura

I don’t see a loser here or a need for draft equity…I think I maintained all of the principals, except Klay to LAL is an even better story. ORL just keeps KCP and DAL keeps Christie. WCJ is more versatile than Lively or Gafford, so with AD & Goga, I believe DAL doesn’t lose ground in their frontcourt, while adding Reaves and a young, cheap shooter. ORL doesn’t really need Hachimura, but his versatility could lead to other moves. Gafford is kind of lateral, value-wise, but a far better fit with Paolo & Franz.

That's a non-starter for LA. Reaves is worth more than Lively given his injury history, and Klay isn't worth much more than an expiring contract at this point.

Yeah this one doesnt really makes sense for Orlando. Swapping two washed SG doesn't really move the needle. Orlando needs a PG first and foremost. Giing up out FRP and not getting some kind of impact scoring wing back is no go. Klay is past his time. Doesnt match the timeline of core trio.

Do agree that the Lively and reeves swap is good value for both teams.
