My personal position is that Mavs need to:
1. Fire Nico, this is the key to Mavs path moving forward, any more decision he makes will dig the Mavs into a deeper hole.
2. Trade AD to either Rockets or Thunder, in the same trade try to get their pick back from CHA, AD is still worth a lot and can restock the asset shelf
3. Trade Martin, Kyrie, PJ and Gafford for assets, and rebuild from scratch around Lively

Kyrie isn't the difference between a contender and a lottery team, the team w/o Kyrie has shown it's not a PO team by any stretch, and this is a very important realization moving forward, building around 2 fragile stars for a team that making the conference finals would a surprise for isn't smart.

Example:
Trade AD for Hartenstein, Topic, Wiggins, 28 swap back OKC pick in 27 (has swap with Clippers) and 2 Nuggets 1sts.
Trade Hertenstein for Grant Williams, Josh Green and Mavs 27 1st.

This gives the Mavs control over 26, 27 and 28 drafts, and 3 years of full rebuild.
Trade Gafford and PJ for Maxi (has to go to a 3rd team) and Vando and Lakers 31st pick
Defense wins draft lotteries!

What can we even say about this season? AI in NBA2k wouldn't even be able to script it like this, it's not this dumb. Luka and then Grimes wanting out because of dirty games by one person in the FO. Both trades pure disasterclass.

Just no words at this point anymore. I liked Brandon Williams since the start and wanted to see him play more. Luckily Kidd fell upwards and was forced to play him and i'm happy he got a roster spot. That's about it.

PJ and Gafford will eventually have to be re-signed but they'll both probably be 2expensive to keep. So i think one of them will be gone soon as well. Navigating this roster will be incredibly hard and Mavs will have to rely on two injury prone players moving forward. KD trade will also be in play and that will instantly sink this franchise for the future.

They should, he's interesting and I think he's still eligible for 2-way.

AD needs to get surgery if it were up to me. He is not getting full range of motion now. The difference in movement is noticeable. I have no idea when it comes to healing time period for these types of injuries but Kyrie is out until January or February anyway.

If AD moves to center, that opens up the PF slot back for PJ and/or if they move him for KD. There is no way KD is agile enough to play SF now. If they are in the market for him. BIG IF. It does make sense for Nico though. He tied himself to Kyrie, AD, and Kidd's contract length. KD should line up with that if he wants it. If it doesnt work, they all leave at the same time.

Yes, right now we need a revolution not a couple of trade.

This roster is not easily fixable, add AD forced everybody to play out of position.
And this carry us to fail.

I think Jones will be Gafford's replacement after we trade him although AD and Lively will get most of the minutes at Center.
Gafford seems like the likely guy out to fetch a starting caliber PG.

And I'll be shocked if we keep the pick. My guess is they'll make some type of draft day trade.
Draft picks mean absolutely nothing to Nico at this point.
If Nico isn't fired before the draft like he definitely should be, look for a trade of some type.

LaMelo Ball, Thybulle, Isaac and Monk. Is it possible to pull off a miracle?

Kai Jones still needs strength to hit the rotation. Right now, Kai's looking like Brandon Wright or DJ M' Benga to me.

I like Lively also needs strength at the core muscles (at the belt and at the back) surrounding the back bone. I also want Lively to develop offense in Wemby or Chet manner to make better use of the passing instincts. Don't get me wrong. Gafford is solid but to play against lengthy bigs, you still need Lively. If Lively could space the floor and make plays like C-Webb, it's even more difficult to guard AD. I think Lively can average more blocks and rebounds with better strength and awareness.

The tricky thing is PJ and Gaff. Both will need fresh new contracts soon and I don't think Dallas gets to keep both with big new deals.

Rebuild. End of the story. This roster is a recipe for mediocrity.

I prefer a new start soon.

This happens after Nico leaves. Kyrie, AD and Kidd all have their contracts aligned to Nico. Nico's going all in on this product that he feels can go all the way. In his mind in works. So he's betting on this group. If it doesnt work then all 4 of them walk. Mavs start the rebuild. The earliest that happens is probably 3 to 4 years from now.

If this and other reports of Dumont finally "hearing" fire Nico chants are true, then the future of this team is literally in the balance :D This saga will never end until ENTIRE Nico personnel is gone. Him and his "yes-man staff" did so much damage in the past 2 years, i don't know if the next branch will be able to fix it in the next 10 years...

For conversation sake, how about just trading AD for KD straight up then?

KD can play PF which means you do not need to trade Lively and Gaff. Phoenix needs a big man after trading Ayton. Salaries should be pretty close.

Depends on what happens to Nico the next few weeks, a quick rebuild solution is to trade Kyrie for Trae Young, whose days are numbered in Atlanta. And trade AD for Lauri Markannen. Then bring everyone else back. It's the same thing.

These are basically the same guys with lighter skin color. Does the same things. Production-wise you're looking to fill 2 guys who get you 25 to 27 ppg. Young and Markannen gets you that.
