ORL sends: KCP
POR sends: Simons
POR has a solid 3-guard rotation with Scoot, Sharpe and KCP, who can also defend up at the 3 at times.

Trade #2
ORL sends: WCJ, Jett
TOR sends: Poeltl
Why: TOR drafts Maluach at 7, WCJ is more versatile than Poeltl and can play PF or just different looks at C while Maluach learns. Howard a salary dump.

Trade #3
ORL sends Cole Anthony, #46, future srp
BRK sends future top 55 protected srp (cap space rental for a year…but Cole really could blow up in NYC)

ORL drafts Sorber at #16 (to ultimately replace Isaac) and Walter Clayton at #24

ORL signs Ty Jerome to MLE

Poeltl, Goga, Moe
Paolo, Sorber, Isaac
Franz, TdS, Houstan
Suggs, AB
Jerome, Simons, Clayton
*Simons is early favorite for 6MOY, getting plenty of minutes and shots. Depending on Moe, Isaac, Goga, Sorber dynamic, there could be more moves at TD. Poeltl collects many boards on both ends, good ball mover and smart screener. Tons of offensive firepower and playmaking now in the backcourt, but still stocked with multiple defenders for varying matchups.

That would be a nearly perfect summer. Won't happen.

Yeah please keep this away from our team. Perf example how one player can make your team a defensive cone. If that's the effort of your leader, rest of guys will follow. Pas

It’s about his contract for me. He is not worth what he’s making. He should be making ~$35 mil per.

It’s all of the above for me.

There are flaws you can point out in Simons, Coby, and others as well. … but they aren’t commanding super star max deals.

Put it all together and JUST SAY NO to Trae!

Hard pass for POR.

Zero interest in KCP.

MEM sends Ja Morant, Zach Edey
MEM gets Sabonis, ORL 26 frp (Top 5 protected)
Why…perfect frontcourt pairing with JJJ. Bame and young guys keep moving forward without drama

SAC sends Sabonis, Zach Edey
SAC gets Zach Edey, Wendell Carter, KCP, ORL #16
Why…young, versatile, bully ball defensive frontcourt and 3&D toughness to complement explosive offense of Lavine & Derozan, good frp

ORL sends Wendell Carter, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, #16, ORL 26 frp (Top 5)
ORL gets Ja Morant
Why…unlimited upside, unlimited downside bet for the most electrifying/polarizing player in the league

Goga, Isaac, Moe, Raynaud(#24)
Paolo, Isaac, TdS
Franz, TdS, Houstan
Suggs, AB, Jett
Morant, CoJo, AB

LFG! With #24, I’d rather have a defensive-minded bruiser like Sorber, but maybe even look at Clayton if we could just find someone like Steven Adams or Capela as a UFA or via SnT. If MEM is ready to part with Ja, Sabonis fits really well with JJJ and his playmaking gives promising, young, inexpensive Pippen room to develop as a PG. SAC leans into their two vet scorers by surrounding them with complementary players and developing young ones.

I’m really high on KCP, I think he’d be great raising Scoot & Sharpe’s intensity on D and he’s still very formidable on both ends himself. He’s just redundant with younger, more unrealized upside and home-grown Suggs and emerging Black….but you’re welcome to be wrong about everything lately :D

POR wants youth and picks, not expensive, disappointing vets. We already have Grant.

KCP would probably help us bag a two-way player like Vassell. KCP and Goga for Vassell.

With Fox and Castle at guards, I don't think Vassell fits their team long-term

Suggs
Vassell
Franz
Paolo
Wendell

I like Vassell but you're replacing an expensive redundant shooting guard with a younger, more expensive...SG?

Vassell makes roughly the same as Simons.Trading Goga gives the roster room to bring in 2 rookies.

you are absolutely the most reliable deflector of objections...

I don't think Weltman will even make 1 trade "they were trying to squeeze us". I think he overpays for Tyus Jones in FA, makes our 1st round picks, trades the 2nd's, exercises the options above and calls it a summer. I can't say I'm too against that if trades require giving up Black and our 1st for the likes of Sexton, Simons or Jordan Poole. I think Coby White is off the table now.

I tend to agree...given the CoJo experiment, Tyus (off the bench) would certainly be interesting if not really transformative...a lot comes down to the "we can use two SGs because of Paolo & Franz" vision and whether ORL will at least soften their stance on that. I'd love to do something bigger, but...

If I'm betting...I say we only draft one frp. Hopefully, the other is in a trade PACKAGE...but, more likely, traded for a future pick ("we felt like, given our youth, we didn't want to bring in more rookies" - completely disregarding holes & imbalances in roster and opportunities to upgrade)

Despite my smartassery, I'm pretty optimistic about draft choices and player upside...but with years of evidence, I do hit a point of contention.
