No, not really. I was spot on right from the beginning of this game. Pistons aren’t very good. They just don’t pass the look test from a roster standpoint.
I guess the only positive is Jaden Ivey didn’t play and he’s the most talented guard on the team. It doesn’t address the lack of size inside though

The Knicks simply took their defensive pressure to another level in the 4th and the refs weren't calling much ... several times we had guys complaining to refs when the Knicks were running it down the court in transition. Worst 6-7 minute stretch of the season for sure came at the worst possible time in this one.

We had a fighter's chance to make this a 6 or 7 game series but if Stew is hobbled all series it could be over quick. He's so important to stopping what the Knicks are trying to do. He plays like he's 7 foot and is the heart and soul of the defense.

That was their best in the Garden, we can beat that, still saying Pistons in 6.

Yeah, if Stewart can't go or is hobbled, unfortunately I think we'll be lucky to win 1 game this series. Completely agree.

- Cade had his worst game in a long time
- Ausar had his worst game in a long time
- The refs decided to let the Knicks hand check in the 4th
And it still took a big run to beat us. Would’ve been nice to steal game 1 but these guys are beatable. I have confidence Cade will come out nasty Monday. I’m less confident in Ausar because he gets down on himself. Hope he proves me wrong

That’s a problem when he’s only 6’8. He can’t be playing like he’s 7 feet, he needs to be playing like he’s 6’8 with a dribble drive and outside shooting game

Not surprised by the L!
1. Inexperienced
2. Thompson/Holland/Duran limitations
3. Stewart’s injury hurt. He can barely run
New York should sweep us. Mentally we not ready. All the Knicks have to do is drive to the basket for easy shots and that's just what they did. We're a jump shooting team. We really need Ivey(rim attacker) but thats not a reality. Cade folded like a dollar bill late in the game.

We can steal Game 2.... Maybe the guys got the nerves out of their system. Lots of unlikely awful play. One of our worst games in a long time. Came at the wrong time, but we it's just one game and we can steal home-court Game 2... Stew has to play.

I’m not totally surprised at how this game played out. Cade and Duren never really got rolling and weren’t in sync enough to close this game out. Ausar’s nerves didn’t help either. Big shout out to the vets tho.
Also with Stewart - he’s been dealing with a knee issue. We won’t win a single game if he doesn’t play another game. Lucky for us, he’ll play until they drag him outta there.

Re: #1 - Pistons@Knicks - 6pm ET
Pistons had this one. They were playing fine, everything was working, gameplan was legit. That 4th quarter meltdown was epic.
Cade was brutal. Ausar was absolutely useless for most of the game, with stupid fouls, turnovers, and puzzling plays. Duren wouldn't get out of the lane. I'm still laughing about it.
Pistons absolutely had this one, and gave it away. I expected nerves to get to the guys at some point, but it all came crashing down in the 4th, with a combined effort in the final period. I dont remember that level of a meltdown like that, in recent memory.
Hopefully the guys take away the important part(up 8, and in control to start the 4th)and go from there. Or, worst case, they stew on the collapse in the 4th, and get blown out in game 2.

Re: #1 - Pistons@Knicks - 6pm ET
The box score won't really tell the story on how the 4th quarter played out. Starting with that 5 second call we were completely taken out of of the game. NYs' length is definitely a problem but our inexperience was also a major factor.
I enjoyed watching Brunson sorta bust out while with Dallas and his emergence the first year with the Knicks... but I can already tell that his constant foul hunting is going to irritate the **** out of me all series. I hope the refs don't constantly bail him out. It's going to be chippy enough we don't need these bs calls when he's jumping into guys and initiating the contact. Brunson is going to make some tough shots and will probably have some big games, but I think we'll also be able to limit his effectiveness at times and wear him down as the series progresses.
KAT is the real problem. I don't know how we answer him. Like... no clue. He's not prime Shaq or anything, but offensively the dude is just a beast and we're way undersized. Even more so with their 2-big lineup. That dude is going to have a monster series.
OG played a hell of game too. Probably the best player on the court through all 4 quarters and maybe that's secretly the biggest problem. Like,... in my brain KAT & Brunson are going to get theirs kinda no matter what. You can try and make them tough shots but those guys are tough covers & elite shot makers. If OG is playing like this as a "3rd" or "4th" option... that's kinda scary. With Hart & Robinson etc these guys have the tools to give CLE/BOS problems. Health has sorta been their biggest issue this season.

I’m still mad about the no call on the Tim Hardaway dunk that went in and popped out.

I wouldn't say the Knicks won this game, but the PIstons lost it. They made so many mistakes at the end that it was unbelievable.

Yep. Cade is not a point guard (too slow and not a good ball handler) Ivey can at least explode and has an elite first step even though his ball handling is worse than Cades

bull. Knicks came out in the 4th quarter and took it from us. They played swarming defense and absolutely smothered us on one end and then made big play after big play at the other end.BadMofoPimp wrote:I wouldn't say the Knicks won this game, but the PIstons lost it. We most certainly did not help ourselves, but give the Knicks credit. They played well and earned the W.

Finally somebody who also points out the Pistons lack of size. They are a diminutive team which is astonishing they made the playoffs being so small.
I’m also surprised some people preferred the Knicks to playing other teams because the Knicks are about to sweep the Pistons. If Detroit couldn’t get this one I doubt they win a game. Reminded me of game 1 back in 2016 against the Cavs
