Here is some fun info:

I am always confident in reading the realgm analysis when guys aren't even aware of prominent players' names:

http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_teama ... _fukudome/

Fukudome will help the Cubs next year and beyond, but it is still a steep price to pay. It is the same annual contract price given to Aaron Rowland by the Giants but for one fewer year; however, saying Fukudome is as good as Rowland right now is an overstatement.

This reminds me of an article I read by an NFL analyst on here 2 years ago that the writer had inside sources saying that he was 100% certain that "Matt Linehart" would be taken by the Texans with the #1 pick in the draft.

I'm laughing at the Giants for signing Rowand. They have two great young pitchers and their only move this offseason was replacing Bonds with an overrated overpaid Rowand.

From the brilliant RealGM analysis article:
In my mind, Fukudome will be between .290 and .300, hit about 25 home runs and drive in 90 or so runs, depending on his placement in the batting order.

Fukudome will help the Cubs next year and beyond, but it is still a steep price to pay. It is the same annual contract price given to Aaron Rowland by the Giants but for one fewer year; however, saying Fukudome is as good as Rowland right now is an overstatement.

It is a real overstatement since Rowand has never put up 90 RBI in his career and in his 4 full seasons has put up HR totals of 24, 13, 12, 27.

Oh! and the Giants have him for one more year than Fukudome! Great signing!

I think they should try and pry Jeff Kent away from the Dodgers if he hangs around and then they'd really be cooking for next season.

They can't get Kent, he's not collecting social security yet.

Well, I think Sabean is willing to forego that for the instant punch(literally and figuratively) he would offer to the team. Do you think a package of Lincecum and Cain for Luis Gonzalez and Kent would do the trick?

EDIT: Forgot that LuGo is a free agent this season. Throw Nomar in instead?

Gonzalez is a free agent. I think Lincecum and Cain for Kent, Garciaparra and Loaiza would do the trick though.

The Giants would love that offer. Hopefully for the Dodgers nobody would tap them on the shoulder and tell them that it is 2008, not 2002.

I'm going to reheat some pizza and watch the extra innings game of the Brewers beating the Cubs in extra innings at Wrigley this year. Then watch the Bucks get their asses kicked by the Cavs at 6.

You're trying to tell me you can't find anything better to do than watch a baseball game from last season? At least watch a replay of a Packer game this season.

I don't feel like scrolling through my DVR to find something better and that was at the top. I'm watching the Bucks now though. 8)

Tri person gwynn will be more patient if he ever gets a chance to see big league pitching more often. You almost never see a rookie come in and he takes walks.

You also never see a player who has never taken walks start to take walks. 8)

Sure you do, give him time in the majors too see pitching. Your boy dillon sure did it last year for a short period of time after never doing it ever it.

.293 .381

That's Dillon's BA and OBP in the minors.

Last year in the majors he hit .342 .390 so his walk rate regressed in the majors.

.272 .350

That Gwynn's BA and OBP in the minors.

.260 .326

So he regressed as the pitching in the majors got tougher as well but not dramatically so basically what you see is what you get.

So the Tigers give Willis 13 mil a year... So why couldnt the brewers work out a trade some how to get him here.. We gave Suppan 11.5 a year... That sounds like a good deal for a good left hander!!!

He had a 5.17 ERA last year and it would've cost us Parra and probably one of our young hitters.
