Saraf is a dope guard prospect. This international class has a lot of pretty damn good prospects. I bet this scouting department is absolutely locked in right now. Love to see it.

Something like a running board for me right now:

Cooper Flagg

Dylan Harper

VJ Edgecombe
Jeremiah Fears

Collin Murray-Boyles
Tre Johnson
Derik Queen
Ace Bailey
Khaman Maluach

Jase Richardson
Noa Essengue
Asa Newell
Kon Knueppel
Sergio de Larrea
Kasparas Jakucionis
Noah Penda
Carter Bryant

Labaron Philon
Rasheer Fleming
Nique Clifford
Nolan Traore
Ben Saraf
Will Riley

Gonna have to zoom in on getting a better feel for back half

I'm getting the feeling Philon is a guy that is gonna start creeping up draft boards--def mine. Legit 2-way impact play PG without many clear weakpoints. If he continues to progress on his shot, he could be that dude

Having a tough time with Philon. Kinda absolutely disappeared during the tourney run. Was watching Bama play plenty and was kinda disappointed in his play. He had a decent game against Duke but mostly stat padding in a 20 point loss.

I'm praying to BB gods the GSW pick ends up at #18.

There's a few high ceiling prospects in that 12-18 range, guys that if they pan out might be game changers down the line. One of the more intriguing ones is Noa Essengue :

a huge 6'9 super lengthy do-it-all wing, he's like a Bam/Jovic hybrid.

He's 18YO, put this kid in our system and I can see him become an absolute 2 way beast in a couple of years.

For me it starts with the baseline being really good for a PG prospect--defense and playmaking.

IMO Philon is easily the second best defensive guard prospect in this draft--which is pretty excellent for a 6'4 19 year old with some upside. Him and VJ Edgecombe are at least a tier above any of the other guards in the draft defensively.

Pair that with some really good playmaking chops flashed whenever he had the opportunity to play on the ball and I love the foundation for a PG prospect that has real upside.

Philon has also shown to be a player that does all the "little things" throughout a game that contributes to giving a team advantage (whether it shows up in the box score or not). To some extent, he reminds me of a more PG-oriented version of Derrick White in that regard. I put some value in validating the eye test in seeing draft analysis like that done in the following tweet thread/article which is based on charting "impact":

He doesn't jump off the screen with his explosiveness or athleticism but he's sound as hell and always actively contributing. I think he has a real PG game, I think his shooting will progress in the NBA (made 41% of his 3s as a HS senior) and he's one of the best paint penetrating guards in the draft (self-created FGM at rim rate on par with Fears).

He's light but I like his frame. Put some muscle on him and get him developing in PG role and I like the floor and see some ceiling.

He’s not getting past OKC at 15 lol. The irony of losing that pick

Look at Saraf up there with the big boys.

The more I watch Saraf, the more I like the fit. Ive been focusing on his passing in to the post from all angles. Weve got 2 dudes we need to feed. They hungry. Chef Saraf?

Absolutely—the intl class is better than last years overall imo, even if it doesn’t get as many lotto picks. Saraf, Essengue, Penda, de Larrea, Traore. I expect quality options to be available with the Heats pick (assuming they hold onto it)

Saraf really caught my eye early in this process. Seems like the perfect fit for us. Just a dynamic passer of the ball. Bring on Dragic to the coaching staff and have him groom this kid. Loving the Chef Saraf nickname already lol
