But it's not really a team defense problem.

The cavs game plan was to hunt herro. Herros counter was to give up on plays. And spo just let them switch onto herro or put him into an action every trip down the floor. I dare anyone to find a playoff game where 1 person got hunted this mercilessly and the coach just let it happen. 1. Just 1.

Now guys are trying to overhelp on herro, so now we have open looks and an inability to grab rebounds.

It's a 1 person problem that the coaching staff had to have seen coming.

they have like 40 plus points in the paint bro and they started to shoot better from outside too late in the game thats on defense. our offense is not that great either but it kept us within range most of the game is just that they are better than the heat and that is all

I'll guarantee that 40-50% involved herro in some kind of action. And the team defense broke down because of it. The cavs attacked whichever side herro was on. That was the game plan.

The cavs players eyes lit up when herro was in range, and they got into a rhythm. Now they can hit everything.

I dont think the team played bad. And I'm dumping on herro, not because he's a bad defender, but because he is giving up on plays. The bigger issue, is spo. He got outclassed by Atkinson and it isn't even debatable. We all saw what the cavs were doing and no adjustment was made.

The most annoying thing about this for me was we made Darius Garland look so good. Yes whatever that other guy's name is randomly had a career night against us but we're the Heat. Scrubs lighting us up is par for the course.

But Garland being able to act like some top tier player just pissed me off to no end. And worse, you've now given him confidence for the rest of the series.

Had they played Knicks or Pacers they would have had a shot to win the series. Cavs are just soo much better than us. And we have no answer for Mitchell. Mitchell can drop 50 in any game if he wants. They can't keep on doing this play in thing. They need to be around the 3-5 seeds. If this is a quick series like its looking, they have to start prioritizing regular season or just tank

Pacers would run them out of the building and Knicks defensive clamps would put Mia's non handlers in a straitjacket

Thats on coaching to hide him. You cant have 4 plus defenders on the floor and be this bad. You just cant. We made 0 adjustments. But again its game 1. I have faith in Spo. We can get game 2.

If the Heat are not gonna hit Burks for corner threes there is no reason to play him. Ball handling, defender, passing and shooting is needed in place of Burks and thats Larsson

That's an adjustment I wouldn't mind seeing, could help to hide Herro more defensively. I had to work so missed second half but its funny that we went from a Butler stan who made it his mission to always hate on Herro (sometimes deserved, this season not so much) to now a Wiggins stan with the same MO. Tyler's not a good defender but I doubt its as bad as some are making it out to be, and he's the only guy on this roster besides Kyle Anderson and Bam who can actually direct the offense (embarrassing that none of our other guards or wings can do it).

Yea Tyler was awful tonight, but Tim is right about the Wiggins stan in general. He's done it every game, even the ones where Tyler is clearly dominating. It honestly is odd that every player fan we have exclusively chooses him as the scapegoat lol.
