How is Wemby to SAS good for the league? They’re not a big market. The Cavs were the worst team in 2003 and had the best lottery odds. It’s too convenient that the team with the best odds won the lottery?

The Cavs and Magic have won the draft lottery the most. There isn’t some league wide conspiracy to help the Magic and Cavs get stars.

The league will find a way to move Wemby to a major market. He is such a special player there is no way they "waste" this incredible marketing opportunity. Wemby to NYK.

If the NBA had all this power to manipulate outcomes why did they allows the Knicks, NYC's team, the worst winning percentage in the NBA over a 19 year span? 39% from 2002 to 2020.

Did they not realize there is more money in NYC than SA?

You realize only one team can win the chip right?

League didnt let any team from the east outside of the pistons and big 3 do anything during Kobes run (and then curry).

Plus the Knicks have been a marketable train wreck IMO. MSG and the knick fan base loves that whole NY vs the world stick they run with (see stephen a smith). Did you also forget the Knicks got Melo/Amare???

I'm not talking about winning titles. They were awful. 39%. Why would the Nba allow this?

39% for 19 years. IF the NBA fixed why wouldn't they ensure a good team in NY?

Conspiracy theorists never have a convincing answer for why the NBA fixes the draft or fixes things for the Lakers but allow NYC's team to languish.

Why are you focused on metrics when that doesnt tell the whole story? Its an entertainment product.

There are certain franchises such as the Pistons that thrive on that underdog "its us against the world" marketing stuff.

Look up the countless Stephen A Smith rants about wanting to see the Knicks return to glory. Your posting style shows what gets the fanbase engaged!

What is the answer? Walk me through how NY not being in the playoffs is good for the NBA's bottom line.

Jumping to the NFL do the Raiders sucking take anything away from that fanbase supporting the team? Last I checked they are still in the NFL and a pivotal part of the NFL brand... it keeps the fanbase engaged x10 because they wanna see them back in the playoffs and they feel the NFL in conspiring against them.

The Knicks are basically the Raiders of the NBA except they actually get superstar free agents once in a blue moon.

So your contention is the NBA doesn't care if the Knicks are good because Knicks fans will follow the Knicks even if their awful.

If that is true, wouldn't the Knicks being in the post-season boost ratings since Knicks fans will 100% watch all Knicks playoff games.

No offense but I think conspiracy theorists just come up with retroactive explanations for why the facts are consistent with conspiracy because you suffer from low social trust and naive cynicism

Not every team can be a Lakers/Patriots/Yankees.

Look at this list:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2024/12/12/forbes-2024-list-50-most-valuable-sports-franchises/76947858007/

Knicks, Raiders, and Cowboys are all nearly top 10 most valuable franchises in all of sports despite not winning a high volume of championships or being in the playoffs most years.

What keeps you coming back as a Knicks fan might I ask? just because the league decides not to shove NY in everyones face every post season doesnt mean they dont get favoritism or the league doesnt fix stuff.

I keep going back to NY because it is America's largest metro. If the NBA really fixed thing they would want NY deep in the playoffs. The fact they've languished for decades is a strong data point against the conspiracy being in place. Because if you wanted to fix things you want NY in the playoffs over Cleveland.

Ah yes, the league was rigged for the Pistons, because Detroit is a huge market and that team had a bunch of marketable stars. And then the league rigged it for Pistons/Spurs in 2005.

If the league was rigged we’d have gotten a Lebron/Kobe finals.

Manufactured? Like get a few scientists together, mix a few clones in and create a super human for basketball? Probably needed help from aliens too. So that is what they are doing in area 51.

You just said it yourself "Americas largest metro". Its the self proclaimed mecca of basketball.

The league doesnt need to pump up numbers to get people invested in Knicks basketball. Even when the Knicks sucked, superstars in the NBA said how much they loved playing in MSG due to the history. They already have a brand/legacy that can never be ruined.

You act like the league doesnt have any other vested interests in building up any of its other franchises. Plus why are you whining? The knicks are literally contenders in the East right now

Damn NY fans are ridiculous
