I agree. And maybe even coaches get together and brainstorm one or two wrinkles involving Luke. Maybe try something like giving him a back pick to get him a lob dunk or maybe something with a cutter or a shooter coming off a curl when Luke is in the shortroll... I dunno I'm not an NBA coach. Or even try a Luke+KP dbl big lineup that we did not see today but that was super effective in short minutes during the year.

Luke is way too important to not try some interventions to build a "Playoff Luke" ... last season Luke was +11 per100 in the rs and then -8 per in the playoffs. Be nice if we could solve that, as you said, Luke was our best plus/minus guy this year ... gotta find a way to preserve that advantage in the postseason

Here's a cool pic posted by the Celtics with the caption, "This energy all postseason long."

That's Bill Chisolm standing and enthusiastically cheering, and his wife cheering next to him. Wyc and Steve are sitting right next to each other. I saw them chatting together during the game.

Chisolm's obviously a real fan.

Haven't KP postups been just about the highest points-per-touch of anything in the league the last couple of seasons? If so, pretty sure it includes his line drive jumpers from 15ft out, which I don't love stylistically, but they go in at a high %.

He had a bad game offensively today. It happens. I think it's realistic to expect he'll calibrate how to specifically score against these Magic, and be better offensively for most/all of the rest of this series.

Maybe they were caught off guard by the physical play?

Definitely seemed to be, yeah. The whole Cs team seemed on their heels much of the 2nd quarter in particular, then came out in the 3rd ready to fight. KP never got it going offensively, though. Magic play like the 90s Knicks. A lot of us say we miss that. I just don't want the Celtics to get injured!

Fun fact: the last time Jayson Tatum was hit with a flagrant foul towards the end of G1 of the playoffs, the Celtics went on to win a championship.

real comment: that looks like the moment in the 3rd when Jrue showed quite a bit more emotion than usual!
RealGM comment: that looks like the moment when Chisholm yelled to Jrue "don't worry we're not trading you with one or more picks into someone's capspace just to save me and my fellow investors a few hundred millies!" Jrue's finger-wave back, I believe, makes that a legally binding contract that cannot be taken back

White and PP smoke it today, great effort on both ends! Still concerned about JB he’s not even close to the explosive Brown we’re used to seeing…. Great team win without any real contribution from the J’s or Zinger, and the C’s still win by double digits. Good Luck Magic, C’s in 4, Gentlemen sweep is Gonzo now

Tatum deserves credit for his defense and rebounding in the 2nd half but he's going to need to be a lot better for the C's to repeat. The Magic are a very good defense but he was way too slow with his offense today. When we played uptempo we got what we wanted and got them completely out of their comfort zone.

Nice win.

VC to White and Pritchard. They were both great.

Jrue with a nice second half.

Brown was solid. So was Al.

Tatum and KP need to play better. Tatum gets drops for his rebounding. KP needs to play stronger.

Joe did a good job coaching. He limited KP, Hauser and Kornet's minutes because they weren't effective.

That's not his game. That's why we don't post him up because he is too weak to establish position in the paint. He has no lower body strength. If you notice, we post him up at the FT line or beyond because he gets easily pushed out, even by guards. I thought the Australians would have helped him in that area this season. Luke is noticeable stronger this season unlike KP. Magic took his 3 point shot away. KP has got to find a way to play a little stronger.

Props to Joe for limited his minutes. He saw what we all saw. The Magic were tossing him away.

Jrue was awesome in our run in the 3rd. Really opened the game on defense and offense
JT wasn't good on offense. ORL took his facilitating and his shot selection was poor. Was good on the boards and on defense. He should play better
I thought Hauser played good in his limited minutes (before garbage time). Played solid D, got rebounds and took away a defender to the corner. Maybe play him more instead of one of the bigs

We played better with the lone big and 3 guards lineup

#1 takeaway: we didn't play through Tatum this game. Exactly the opposite of what I'd expect against NY and CLE and 90% of the rest of the league. But might be our strategy this series.

If PP can do anything close to this game during the playoffs, we're going to be gold.

10 or so of DWhite's points came off screens set by the Jays.

Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

They keyed on Tatum and Brown, collapsed on them when they drove and shaded them through picks. Others had to step up and our triceratops guard combo stepped up big time. KP has to be more decisive.

ORL wants to muddy up the game, get the C's complaining to the refs, get under their skin with some borderline flagrants. Magic are a "they can't call a foul every possession" kind of D. It's super frustrating but the C's can't get caught up in that. In the first half they lost focus, then in the 2nd they shrugged that off and dominated.

Both the Cavs stars played great on good efficiency. Mitchell on 11/19 shooting for 30pts. Garland scored 27 5/9 from deep. Their 6th man Ty Jerome scored 28. Bigs out there blocking shots. I know we can beat them, but Tatum needs to play better, as well as porzingis. We can’t have them play like that. When is the last time JT scored 30 on good efficiency. We can’t have him score 3/15 on 1/8 on 3’s to start off games. Hope he shows up and be consistent, as he was most of the season.

Literally two games ago against the Knicks (32 points on 63 TS%). What are we even doing here ?

Magic are one of the best in preventing fastbreak points during the regular season, allowing a shade under 14 FB pts/game. C's got 26 FBPS on them, mostly via forced turnovers. That's ORL's 2nd worst mark all season.

Celtics starting five was a +12 in just 13 mins on the floor together. Shot 5/11 from 3 and 6/11 from 2. That's more like it.

The double big lineups were -10 in around 15.8 mins. Both KP-Horf (-4) and Luke-Horf (-6) were in the negative.

Celtics only took 45.1% of their shots from beyond the arc (mainly 'cos ORL is good at taking away the three). That's among their lowest marks for the season and still found a way to win by a lot.

Absolutely what I thought when Tatum went down, and nobody checked any magic players after that flagrant?! C's looked soft as heck yesterday as the Magic played bully ball, yet we still won by double digits....Calmer heads prevailed, I was expecting an MMA move by Joey after that cheap shot, he was lit. C's in 4!
