It was tied and came back 15 minutes later, and OKC is up 29.

Ty Jerome is the answer to our issues... but we don't have the cap space to go after him anymore. Weltman seriously f'ed up.

Weltman will need to reshuffle so many pieces to fix the roster issues

Non taxpayer MLE is 4 years, $60.7M approximately.

Would he leave Cleveland for the same money just to be a starter?

He's worth more IMO... who has cap space and a starting role for him? Wish we could offer him KCP's money (and a bit more)

No one really.

The only teams who will have more than the full MLE are Brooklyn and Detroit basically. Detroit's not going to sign Jerome with Ivey coming back.

Brooklyn I guess could try and sign him, but they're clearly still rebuilding and I'm not sure giving big money to a 28-year-old really fits their timeline.

Geez...Ty Jerome's price going up. Regular season is impressive, but when you do even better in the playoffs...

he'd be somewhat foolish to not stay with the Cavs... unless someone throws a bag at him

Agree...but the price to steal him is getting higher. I could see him leaving for a bigger role...but not leaving TOOOO much on the table. We are MLE at best and I think we might even need to do some shuffling to qualify for that. Great job Weltman.

Man, I really liked what he was doing over there. Not controlling their first round picks in the next three drafts is pretty rough though.

Edit: he's not even the one responsible for trading their future firsts, though? I don't get this decision at all

Hahah... cuz ty jerome's 2 games 2 point and 1.5 assists in 7.5 minutes of play from his 2023-2024 season was such a dead giveaway.

And sans the injury.... we would have a volume 3 point shooter to pair with Franz and Paolo... in jalen suggs. who could have been the a devastating defensive backcourt tandem. And leave room for jalen to grow more into the point guard role as well.

but ish hit the fan.... as we all know.

Hawks missed playoffs or lost in first round in:
2022
2023
2024
2025

Matter of fact they lost two play in games this year.

That team was on fast track to nowhere. Complete lack of direction, failed season, failed trades, no pick in 2025.

Complete mess.
What was their hope? Jalen Johnson turning into Lebron?

Trading for Dejounte was really bad. I think they started toward a better path this year though.

Did he trade for Dejounte? Basketball reference doesn't assign the transaction to him.

I'm actually not sure how involved he was in that. It seems debatable who made the call now that I read up on it more. I think they technically didn't have a GM at the time, but he possibly had input, really not sure.

I see more upset Hawks fans than happy ones fwiw. Seems he realized they were a treadmill team and started changing course a little.

Looking at the rosters, I just don’t get how Detroit is competing with NY. Before the season I thought Harris, Hardaway, and Schroeder were washed and Beasley was the definition of meh. Thompson seemed like a bust. Their coach was just fired the previous season from another team. They even dealt with a season ending injury to an emerging star. Cade has taken the leap and Duren is what he is, but it just makes me wonder what is working there and what we should learn from it?
