I don't think he's healthy enough. Either that or he isn't being used to his strengths.

How Ty Jerome and the Cavaliers mercilessly targeted Tyler Herro in their Game 1 win over Miami
Tyler got FRIED last night, good god. Bad prep from the coaching staff. I'd post the article, but there's a bunch of videos attached to their findings. Woy.

I feel like we have him in too much of a ball dominant role (or maybe that’s on him idk) but it seems he’s in situations where he’s trying to make plays and it’s leading to turnovers or the ball is just sticking with him. He takes some pretty high difficulty shots that leave me shaking my head from time to time too. I feel he’d be great slashing like Jimmy/Wade and causing issues on defense.

Any healthy offense needs at least 2 perimeter creators in high(ish) usage roles. Miami has one (Tyler) and is using spare parts to cobble together the rest. This means (1) trying to fit Wiggins into more reps in that role (which he is mid at) and (2) less offball opportunities created that Wiggins can convert as a cutter, spot-up shooter, post-up, or mismatch hunting.

Yeah. If this ends in 5 or a sweep, I'm gonna be so pissed. It will be a complete waste of a season.
We had a chance to lock up the 8th pick but pride got in the way.
With the 20th, at best its gonna be a role player

NBA players don't give a damn about helping a team or fans' desire to draft their possible replacement man, they're going to go out and do their jobs (most of them, anyway).

At least we will own our top 10 pick next year.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 9
Draft pick situation
2025- Pick 20
2026- Own (Stepien)
2027- Hornets lottery protected
2028- Own(Unprotected to Hornets if 2027 not conveyed)
2029- Own(Can be traded with protections that forward to 2030)
2030- Own(Can be traded no stipulations)
2031- Own(Can be traded but possible Stepien if earlier picks dealt)
2032- Own(Same as 2031)
Only 3 potential picks to trade as an all in with one of those picks being the mediocre GSW 2025 pick already known in the 20’s. Could still potentially get Durant with this but it will cost us the foreseeable future. It will be the only potential big move.
2025 GSW, 2029-2030(protections pick), and 2032 looks to be the most realistic pick offer with Jaime and Jovic.

I think the Heat function better offensively when Bam is very aggressive on offense. I expect to see that in game 2

Risky to give those up for Durant. 2nd Apron really teaches teams to value these picks.
Being a treadmill team in the next 5 years until we find that next star through draft is also possible.
Signing a star through FA is rare nowadays with the early extension.

Going to be really tough. Question is will somebody beat Jovic, JJJ, GSW pick 20, and 2031 unprotected(Suns traded there 2031). I think that’s what our offer is going to look like. We’ll push it off as if we are giving them 4 picks. Remember whoever trades for Durant also has to extend him. We can make this happen if Houston stays out.

If we can find mid-round picks like Herro, Bam, and potentially Ware who develop into All-Star caliber players, then there’s definitely a path to landing a true star, even without a top pick.
I’d be fine with soft tanking and aiming for the play-in each year if it means we stay competitive while still having a shot at drafting talent. It keeps the product watchable and gives us upside.
and rather hold onto our picks unless a young star specifically forces his way here.

This is possibly why it was important not to be under the gun in giving OKC a 2026 unprotected. Now they can go into next season controlling the future a bit more. I still think something has got to give with some of our expiring contracts and trades should be made to improve. Unless the plan is really to have a clean 2026 cap sheet. Jovic is due for a contract and Jaime doesn’t seem to fit the current big construction of this team.

He's missed some games vs easy match ups.
The 2 injuries he had and I'm 100% he's still playing through is a high ankle sprain and hamstring tendinopathy. Those can't get fixed with anything other than time.
Watch him. He has no stability on his landings. He'll go up and almost always land awkwardly like he's going to fall, same thing on sharp pivots. I'm guessing the training staff saw it too, and that's why he was more of a spot up guy last game.
More importantly, he is 100% a rhythm player. And he's strugged to find any consistent rhythm and role on this team.

Next season is also the reset the repeater clock year. We will most definitely 100 percent be operating under the tax line. Can’t afford to get into a bidding war with Mitchell 8-10 tops and Duncan’s ETO gives us 10 million more under the cap. Only issue will be the 9.8 million in dead cap money held for a year but the 10 mil in savings will be more important.

Was always on the team tank train.. was super pissed when we went on that 6 game win streak. Could have finished 11th. Double edge sword making the play ins… did i want to lose to the bulls? Yes.. at the same time wanted the team to get morale making the play offs without jimmy.
All things considered we wasted a good chance to get a good draft pick in a deep good draft.. won’t get that chance again…
