I read an article stating that the Mavs are going to lose hundreds of millions as a result of this trade. Like even from a financial standpoint it made no sense to trade him next to destroying your own fanbase. But him keeping his job is really a testament to ownership having had a huge say in this.

Basically if a team is owned by terrible owner that know **** about basketball than you can only pray as a fanbase. I think we Knick fans know that very well.

I know this is not likely to happen but if the Lakers went on to win the title this season....that would be like the funniest thing ever. Imagine trading Luka, stating that "defense" nonsense after you went to the finals..just to have that team you traded him to win a title. I'll never root for the Lakers but that scenario would be kind of so funny and ironic I wouldn't be completely against it.

Damn he seems to completely and conveniently disregard the fact that Thompson is nowhere near the defender he was during his GS days, Kyrie has never been much of a defender to begin with and all of them at this stage are super injury prone. I would ask him: "Do you think it is a good idea to stake your chances on 3 players who are all injury prone and have had major injuries recently and are well into their 30s? What gives you the confidence you'll even see a single playoff run where all of them are healthy?"

So bad. Irving will be close to 34 upon return, coming off ACL injury. Klay will turn 36 by then and AD will be 33. So bad.

He was up and down. If they had made the playoffs they might have given him another year. Trading Bogdan and Hunter in one season is a gamble. They got back younger players, pick swaps, and seconds. I think they should have waited to see how the playoffs go before they cut rope.

However…. I get why Atlanta let him go. They aren’t even a treadmill team, they are mediocre.
