I expect the Heat now to be very active in the trade market.

20th pick. Woy.

Might be Suns bound in a KD deal...

Hopefully GSW pick and 2031 unprotected with Jovic and JJJ attached gets it done.

I think Sion James is an interesting prospect. Looks like a tough all around physical guard that can be a great glue piece type of player. I see good handles, good defense, great competitiveness and quality three point shot, very aware passer. AND he is good off the ball player, cutting, setting screens etc. Listening to him in the film room video, appears to have a very good BBall IQ.

2025 stats

6'5 guard
8.7 pts, 52.4 fg%, 41.7 3p%, 59 efg%, 4.2 rbs, 3 ast,
James has a 2.5 ast to turnover ration

Darrion Williams
Position: Forward

School: Texas Tech

Class: Junior

Height/Weight: 6'6", 225 lbs

Williams is a broad-shouldered wing with the versatility to slide from point guard to power forward to center, always showing the ability to make a positive impact no matter what his team needs. A lack of top-end athleticism puts him in a role player bucket, but he brings more than enough winning qualities.

Made 38.6% of his 3s through his junior season in college, showing equal success both off the catch and using one-dribble or two-dribble side-steps. He’s not an elite high-volume shooter, but he’s very good. And his 84.5% rate from the free throw line with soft midrange touch suggests his 3-point numbers could improve even more in the years to come.

Playmaking versatility: Texas Tech will use Williams as a ball-handler on one play, the next play he’ll dribble into a handoff, and the next time down the floor he’ll set an on-ball screen then pick-and-pop. Quick decision-maker who can whip passes seamlessly after attacking a closeout. With his wide frame and broad shoulders, he’ll even get thrown into the post. But at the NBA level, that body will more likely be used as a screener to help execute plays or hunt mismatches.

Versatile defense: Texas Tech had him defend in different positions, sometimes as an on-ball perimeter guy, and other times defending bigs in drop coverage. At the NBA level, odds are these skills will be put into use as a reliable switch defender

Kam Jones and Nique Clifford will have to be looked at. Defensive minded power scoring two guards that can give us options off the bench. Both are ready now 23 year old prospects. We really have nothing behind Herro in that department.

I know some if you hate the idea of older prospects but Kam Jones will be someone high on our board. He’ll be 23 but that won’t be a deterrent for this front office who’s looking for ready now talent around Bam and Herro.

Nique has a nice role player profile. Nice do-it-all shooting guard type that can play some wing.

I'm still lukewarm on Kam as I just see him becoming a backup combo guard in the NBA. Not sure I see him as any sort of positive impact defender (ans surely not a power SG), but maybe he grows like Gabe Vincent on that end (worst DRTG among Marquette starters in 2024, 2nd worst this season)

Give me the19 year old with upside and more dunks this season than Kam had in 4 years in college: https://www.tankathon.com/players/compare?players=kam-jones--labaron-philon

If OKC or Houston wants to make a big splash that package wont get it done!

What then...

I'm almost positive we're keeping this pick for atleast the draft. The timeline has been reset, and rookie deals are valuable in today's CBA. Unless we some how set up a non KD star deal in the off-season, we're using this pick.

We're not getting KD, teams like Houston have a war chest of young players and picks and they're closer to contention already.

So... Another wasted year?

We aren't rebuilding...

We don't have the ammo to land a #1 option!

We just flushed the 11th pick because of Riles ineptitude!

What are we doing?

Houston is the big one if they want to move on from Van Vleet as his contract is the vehicle in getting anything done for them. They also have Thompson ready to take over at PG with Sheppard right behind him. They will pose the biggest threat for Durant if they get knocked out of the first. Van Vleet, Whitemore, and Eason with some Suns pick back has been the rumored deal being tossed around.
