I think for the next decade.

Kyrie is 33, injury prone and is already out for another season. He won't be back until he is 34.

AD is 32, injury prone and slowly declining.

They traded away a bunch of their future draft picks.

The Mavericks are basically betting everything on a 35 year old Kyrie and a 34 year old AD to lead them to a chip in the 2027-2028 season, lol, it's nuts.

Yea during the 2027 draft, their stars are both over the age of 34 and they dont control their picks until 2030. They will be in a world of hurt.

The more this moron talks, the more I start to think he's not as dumb as he sounds. There has to be some sort of book/movie deal he signed that will come from all of this. Every time he talks about it, another chapter gets added to his legacy. A story will be made out of this one day, and he will get paid. Any attention is good attention these days.

Taking it a little out of context but could had been better choice of words.

What do people expect him to say? "It may look like a bad trade right now but consider we get Cooper Flagg from the league office with Davis. This organization is set for the present and future"

Why do people keep saying this? Dude can easily just move on. Just deflect the question when it comes up. Luka is no longer on the Mavericks, we don't talk about former players, the end.

Naah, he craves this attention.

Nico being a bad GM is honestly less surprising than him being bad at marketing. As you said you'd figure a guy who came out of the Nike world would understand that some players are inherently highly marketable and provide significant financial value.

It seems like he doesn't grasp this at all.

As an OKC fan, I thank Nico from the bottom of my heart. This has nothing to do with our 2028 unprotected pick swap with Dallas, no sir.

Nico acting surprised AD is injured

His nickname was literally Day-to-Day Davis

This is the 2nd time the Lakers pull off a shady trade to unload their oft-injured big man for a superstar. Long time ago, they found a sucker to take Andrew Bynum and they got Dwight Howard in his prime.

This this this.

This should be his wheelhouse. Making a basketball evaluation mistake? Yeah, easy to see. Not understanding the monetary value of Luka freaking Doncic after a career at Nike? Feels nearly impossible yet here we are.

Forget that. Dallas eliminated OKC last year and somehow managed to beat them 3x this year. OKC would still have been a paper favorite over Dallas, but man is that a team you should be glad isn't in the bracket this year to possibly wreck a historic season.

It appears he was only at Nike because he was able to form good friendships with the players. He was a college ball player who didn't make it, but was friendly and good at relationships. They probably had Nico be the face talking to the players, while the nerdy marketing was done by someone else at Nike I guess.

It's all about maintaining relationships and friendships.

Except with Luka Doncic.

Reminds me of the time when the Lakers traded Magic to the Suns because he wasn't getting along with Paul Westhead.

Oh wait no, that would be dumb. They fired Westhead.

Everybody should read that Tim McMahon article that was posted today regarding the Luka trade/internal Mavs organizational dynamics. Very revealing and essentially shows it was an ego/power play by Nico.

Nico seems like a truly incompetent moron. I guess sometimes it is that simple.

I don’t trust his story, very much chatters or speculations…. The fact Nico is still having his job says to me the Luka trade is more of the owner’s move… others are just noises….

It's absolutely incredible. I'm not sure I've ever seen a PR disasterclass like this. The trade itself would have been bad enough, but every time he opens his mouth he makes it worse and worse.

That ESPN report today was so damning. I think we can safely put all the moronic conspiracy theories to bed. Dude had legit beef with Luka and systematically cleared out various sympathizers to organizational power brokers to solidify his base.

The fact that Dirk freaking Nowitzki has been marginalized speaks entirely for itself.

Nah, he is actually that stupid. The old adage You can educate a fool, but all you'll end up with is an educated fool applies. We went through the same thing with BC. He probably went to all the best schools, knows how to corporate speak to get into these positions, but when it came to making actual decisions, he was in the case of BC an idiot.

Nico Harrison seems like a similar guy eventhough his background is very different. He's so high on his own oxygen he doesn't realize that no noone outside of a corporate environment cares how he talks; as fans, all we care about are the decisions he makes. The problem is Harrison still thinks he is the smartest person in the room and is just starting to figure out that outside of the Mavs organization bubble, the rest of the world thinks he is an idiot.
