This is horse sh*t. This team/roster is absolutely mismanaged.
like i said go re-watch the Cavs playoff clips from 2 years ago and the Pacers clips from last year even when the team was decimated by injuries.
We play the exact same way with completely different personnel and talent. This is terrorism at its finest!
It's 100% malpractice.
What worked the last two seasons isn't gonna work when the roster is different
You have to tailor your system to the talent at hand. This is beyond asinine. Thibs crying about the refs made me even more upset because DUDE if you used your players right the refs will have no impact!!!!

yup here's the thing if he wanted Thibs to coach you might as well just tried to acquire all defense players and offensive rebounders and just went in on a Allen Iverson type build if you were just going to let Brunson do everything.
So Leon has this year to look at the team he put together to realize they need a coaching change...because he isn't going to move off all his acquired players in one season. I certainly don't want to see this team lose...and even with bad coaching this team shouldn't lose to a team with THjr, Schroder, Paul Reed on it. They start two non shooters so I don't want to hear Josh Hart hurts our spacing when they got two guys who hurt there spacing.
But this might be a necessary evil to move away from Thibs.

KAT is possibly going to be all NBA 2nd team this year and we freeze him out of the offense so Thibs can take "save me Brunson" to the extreme

roster is flawed and certainly doesn't match what the coach wants.
the hope was thibs would adjust his scheme but after 84 games nobody should be surprised at this point.
thibs has to be gone. you either keep thibs and change the roster completely (getting "thibs" guys) or get a coach that can unlock the offense. running it back next year with some fringe changes to the roster would be depressing.

Knicks just lack offensive talent in general to me, and it’s a major issue. It’s so easy to guard us when there’s only 2-3 guys that are consistently threatening. Towns and Brunson can only do so much with the defense keyed in on them
Hart//Mikal//Shamet//McBride are all super easy to guard since they aren’t reliable shooters AND don’t get into the paint vs set defense.

it's fair to say that JB is the only guy that can actually create advantages off the dribble.
we swapped IQ, RJ, I-Hart, Randle and Divo for OG, Kat and Bridges. None of them can ISO or create advantages with the ball. We really leaned further into JB hero ball and didn't even realize it.
with that said a better offensive scheme could mitigate it to an extent.

Agree!
I've been a Thibs guy, thru and thru and if he's ever on the big screen, I'll applaud. But, his lack of adjustments and preparations is hindering this team.
1. Not funneling the offense towards Duren or Tobias Harris, is just lack of vision or refusal to move off your coaching philosophy.
2. It's not hard, OG has been Kawhi lite for the last month. 10 points, Towns have been bulling Duren and Harris, yet no feeds.
3. Bridges for all his criticisms, was making a defensive impact but no curl plays to get him his short jumpers.
4. Brunson, can get tunnel vision, it's up to Thibs to make an adjustment with him, and FORCE him to be a better quarterback.
We've lost to the top teams all year, why? We've must be getting outcoached.

Saw someone say that Thibs didn't actually make any adjustments in game 1, he simply got lucky because Hart was in foul trouble and it forced his hand.

Not true.
OG is a beast, and Mikal is one of the best short game artists in the game. It's on Brunson and Thibs to be creative enough to use all his weapons.
Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, do a great job of serving everyone and pick their spots. Brunson has to be a better quarterback, and he can be, but Thibs has to remind him. IF he wants to.

seriously would people rather have Cade and Tobias Harris/Dennis Schroder as there #2/#3 options?

Mitch or Achiuwa are at least better on defense and they can watch Brunson dribble the ball for 20 seconds on each possession too.
also great to see that we keep feeding OG in his hot offensive stretch.
Thibs is just a chess master.
I can’t believe you watched it non-live. Do you also let rats nibble on your gonads for fun?

Re: PG: that sucked
All of the (valid) coaching criticisms aside from this game...
-Mikal Bridges had 3 wide open looks from 3 in the last 5 minutes. Missed them all.
-Knicks went 0-8 from 3 in the first quarter. Most of them being open.
-Brunson had an open look with 8 seconds left to get the lead down to 1. Missed it.
-OG didn't make a 3 all night.
Sometimes a game can simply come down to do the guys you need to make shots make them or not... The Knicks guys came out on the wrong side of that equation last night.
Game is different, even with all the noise, if the guys they needed to make shots actually made them.

What's really frustrating is all the issues we're seeing are not new. Even Brunson's lack of "setting the table" is something he's acknowledged in the past. But they don't fix anything for more than one game.
