Assuming our pick goes to Minnesota this year, I’d consider this deal + a top 5 protected first in 2026.

Why the protection? Because the Pistons are one serious Cade injury away from totally sucking. We have other good parts on the car, but Cade is the engine.

I’d also like to expand the deal a bit with Sexton in it, if possible. He’d likely get to start here with Ivey gone.
We wouldn't be able to trade the '26 1st.

Scoot can confirm/deny, but I thought once the draft passed, what you’ve done in the past doesn’t matter. As we’ll have all our own firsts from 26+ (and no others), I was under the impression we could trade any future firsts as long as it isn’t two consecutive ones — ie the fact that we traded what turned out to be the 25 first no longer matters.
Gotcha

I think Ainge would want pick compensation...not that he deserves any...but I think he'd rather hold onto Lauri unless he gets at least a pick asset. I am not saying that's fair, that's just his MO.

Completely understand but think this shows the difference between how UTA values Lauri and other teams wanting him. To us he’s a premier talent and we’d need to be wowed to move him.

Oh, yeah, I totally agree. I don't think the Pistons should make an offer that the Jazz would want to accept.

How does this trade feel now? Do you think Lauri would be a good fit in Detroit? Would the Jazz be more open to moving him after Markkanen's statements? What would this trade look like? Harris++?

Lauri is overrated, but even I think this is light for him. Especially when you consider the reaction from Utah's fanbase.

Lauri went from a very respectable 5.1 OBPM to a 1.8.

I believe he can bounce back but now he’s so expensive.

I think it is still a horrible offer.
