This sounds like "who don't we like" award. It makes no sense at all that Rudy is 2nd most overrated player.

Players recognize that the most important skill in the game is iso scoring. So they feel like "stars" who can't go get a bucket in the playoffs are overrated. And they have a point!

There's a limit to how much better you can make your teammates. At a certain point, you need to be able to takeover in spite of the defense focusing on you.

Remember when Realgm had a topic asking if Hali was the GOAT offensive creator?

Because he’s not overrated, just hated on by opposing fan bases because of his success. Boston has won the most games since he’s been drafted.

He definitely is 100 percent overrated. He has been lucky to be on a good team his whole career. He chokes in the playoffs and gets carried by his teammates.

Hali is annoying. If you look just at his face it seems he should be big and strong but in reality he is actually scrawny looking and weak which somehow makes him more annoying.

Also his play style is goofy. Dude just dribbles around the perimeter and jacks up a weird looking shot and it goes in.

As others have said, I think Haliburton just gets under others skins. I’m not sure what he does, but players HATE him.

Just look at Dame from the bench the other night. Dude wasn’t even playing and Haliburton got to him.

He’s a very, very good player on a famous team and who was hyped early on but just isn’t quite “superstar/MVP/freak” tier. I think he’s pretty universally seen as in the top 5-10 player in the league range, which is appropriate. He’s not generally overrated, but a few zealots may force him into discussions of the aforementioned tier when he just does not and never has belonged there.
Also, something that might surprise people. I think when it comes to athleticism, agility, physical attributes and skill I rate LeBron only in the top 50.

Is there a list of all former "winners"?

Who could we name this "award" after?

Aka 20% of the league, which is a relatively large sample size.

the problem is, we don't know WHICH 20%.

I don't trust any overrated poll that doesn't have PG13 at the top of the list. that man looks like he can play basketball better than anyone on earth. can actually do everything well. good handles, shoots and can lock in on defense- good size for his position and is graceful as a ballerina...but is as useful to winning as a role player. honestly if you look at him and sga...there is no reason why Pg13 isn't or was ever as good as the best we have seen from SGA...but geez...

As I said previously, it's subjective. Paul George is overrated relative to his salary, but I don't think anyone questions he's a legit all-star-level player and an occasional all-NBA level guy. And almost no other guard has produced the type of season SGA just had, so expecting Paul George (or anyone really) to have attained that level is a pretty unreasonable ask or expectation.

Meanwhile these boards are filled with people who swear their advanced stats say the greatest lineup you could assemble would be:

Rudy Gobert
Draymond Green
OG Anunoby
Derrick White
Jrue Holiday

The worst name on that list might actually be Beal. He's not even rated enough anymore to possibly be overrated

Yeah.

He got 13 votes out of 90, which makes me curious which 90 guys voted.

To view that another way, he got a plurality with votes from less than 3% of the total league.

Haliburton is overrated and as others have said he's a top-3 most annoying player

Tatum is very very overrated and a product of having a team that can win playoff games with him going 3-19. Stick him on a bad team and they don't sniff the play-in.

Lillard was overrated but he's bad now

Draymond was overrated but he's old and bad now

This is exactly right. I don't understand how he plays his game is so ugly and he is a huge show off. Random between the legs and jacks up a 35 footer and it goes in

It's actually pretty insane that this kind of voting happens with current NBA players. Not really a surprise that the whole NBA media seems so toxic and anti ccurent players, when the actual players are doing the same.

Imagine working in a company were the results of an anonymously voted list of the "most overrated employee" gets released and published on social media^^.

I can't believe Giannis got 2% of votes. Those players should be ashamed.

Ja is far and away number 1 as the Grizz have managed without Ja for many years. Plus his advanced stats are ugly

Gobert on the other hand, anchored 2 teams to have one of the best defenses in the league and yet he is number 2 on this list

Did you not see Gobert get cooked by Luka and CP3 on big possessions? Dude is a fake defender, he makes team defense numbers look good on paper but you go on YouTube and you'll see reel after reel of him getting cooked. He's a meme.

He also shies away from every confrontation. We've seen him get yelled at, shoved and abused with no response. If he can't even defend himself hows he gonna defend the rim?
