He just benched "Mr. 5 Picks" for almost the entire 4th quarter in the previous game. Thibs isn't just some powerless individual standing on the sidelines.

He can't do that regularly. If it becomes player versus coach you see who is removed. They just fired Mike Malone and Joerger right before the playoffs for those kind of decisions.

We all knew the bench was going to get minimized in the playoffs. That's why we kept saying Thibs had to preserve his guys in the regular season, so the main guys could step up and play lots of minutes when it mattered. Teams have won by cutting down the bench minutes in the postseason.

I don't think it's worth talking about a bench dude being able to score 15-20. We can't even get KAT to take shots in crunch time of a playoff game. If KAT is not getting shots and he's not even pulling Duren out of the paint, then are we really expecting him to add value on the basis of his defense?

How do you explain KAT only getting 6 rebounds all game?

Easy solution for that, play the other 7 footer with KAT, rebounding issue solved. Keep blaming everyone else.

Luka is a top 3 passer in the NBA, it's really not fair to talk about feel and compare Brunson to a prodigy. He has a good feel, but it needs to be coached, and when you want him to pass realistically he needs to be going to his left. A lot of our plays have him going to his right so he can do that sweep pickup with his left going for the foul. He threw several behind the back bounce passes to KP for three, going to his left -

The numbers between his time with KP and KAT are crazy, because he's played with KAT more, and passes to him less. That is just a result of how we play on offense, we clear out one side of the court with no screens and let him iso or iso into a post up. It's archaic offense and even if we beat the Pistons we are going to get absolutely massacred by the Celtics.

that is a better example and yea i've seen it all year that he rarely passes to Kat other than when he's established in the post. cam payne has a far far higher assist rate to Kat per minute.

someone mentioned this play earlier in this thread and claimed it was because thibs wants them to defend the rim. now here's brunson saying "i know i have to switch there and i didn't". thibs is not without blame, there's certainly some things he could have done with different lineups. But Y'ALL don't hold the players accountable at all.

Jalen will watch the film and make adjustments. He always figures it out in the end. But I don't think anything he's doing is happening in a vacuum. There are a lot of factors contributing to what we're seeing.

We can certainly find ways to lighten his load or make his reads easier.

I think we take for granted how great brunson is and how much he has to do. The regime brought in these pieces so that he wouldnt have to play like this like he did for the first two playoff runs here...

But alas he is playing more minutes and taking more shots then the last two post season with significantly more talent around him.

Not trying to start a feud but I'd like to see Mitch's actual rim protection numbers because what I see is just okay, so-so rim protection. I think our best rim protection in this series has come with KAT

That said, I am a Knicks fan, and we dropped 5 picks on 3 clutch bricks only to be done in by a guy passed around at the trade deadline. Devastating.

After going through Steve's thread I'm a little more encouraged at the process in the 4th than I was live.

3rd quarter was a disaster but it seems as though Knicks may have caught a bit of a groove in the 4th again. Pistons did a GREAT job of neutralizing KAT and yet Knicks got a decent amount of good looks in the 4th still. Just missed a ton of them.


Glass half full: our defense seems very locked in in crunch time. Pistons are having a tough time scoring. Knicks missed a lot of good looks. Over time this should even put to our favor.

Glass half empty: Pistons have solved the KAT issue. Knicks don't have a ton of counters if they can't get JB and KAT going in pick and roll and we can't out hustle them. If we can't "un-gum" our offense it's going to be a long series. One we possibly lose.

Agreed. Cade seems like a good guy. Timmy is annoying.

Duren seems like a good playe who doesn't talk trash. I respect Beasley a lot even though he's spicy, but a good player.

Tobias got a raw deal basically and I'm happy he's resurrected. Long Island stand up.

They're a pretty fun team and a good team, and it's not bad watching retreads like Dennis get their moment. That's a good story.
