Spurs - Bucks - Giannis on the move
Giannis for Castle, Vassell, Branham, Sochan, #8, #14, 2027 Spurs 1st
Why for Milwaukee? This is of course if Giannis and the Bucks lose round 1 and the writing is on the wall. They get a premium asset in Castle along with 3 first round picks and Sochan. Milwaukee then trades Lillard to somewhere like Houston for Shepphard/Van Vleet. Great kick start to the rebuild as they let Brook, Portis and some of the other aging vets expire.
Why for SA? All in move. This is a team positioned to contend the next 5 years and beyond. Hurts to sacrifice the young guys and picks, but Giannis is obviously worth it. They will attract tons of ring chasers to fill out the depth.
Fox - Keldon - Barnes - Giannis - Wemby
CP3 - Champagnie

no matter what happens, if Giannis becomes available, OKC opens up the war chest and tops this package with sheer volume of picks

I think OKC could top this if they include Jdub, but just picks alone I don't think beats it.
2025 - 15 & 24
2026 - Philly pick top 8, Utah pick top 8 done after next year, 2 1sts out of OKC, Houston, LAC. My initial guess is Philly will bounce back next year. Utah won't convey, and the other 2 1sts will be in the 20s. So 3 picks between 15-25.
2027 - 2/3 of Denver, OKC, LAC. I guess you could bet LAC falls off by then or Jokic gets traded. None of these feel very premium to me
2028 - Dallas 1st. This one feels juicy but is 4 drafts away.
OKC own 1sts are bottom of the barrel even without Giannis.
Idk, I'm not saying OKC couldn't, they for sure could. But this path feels riskier, and takes a lot longer to pan out. And I personally think if you trade Giannis you have to show you have someone to pass the torch to. Castle to me is worth a lot, maybe I rate him higher than most. But I'd prefer him over any of these picks individually, and probably more than several pieced together.
Maybe it boils down to a bidding war between both teams, and OKC could for sure win. But I think SA gets very close and still has more picks they can add.

Maybe I'm higher on Castle than most. But I can't think of many available young players from teams Giannis would reasonable resign with that I'd rather have.

If they win a Championship this year, they'll have to match salary and that makes this a tougher call for OKC than you're suggesting.

Implying some combo of Hartenstein/Caruso/Isaiah Joe/Dort are going to be hold-ups to any possible Giannis deal?
That's like when people said that if GSW hadn't choked the 2016 finals and became B2B champs, they wouldn't have traded Bogut and Harrison Barnes to make room for Durant.

The difference is that I'm pretty sure OKC isn't going to be a 2nd apron team in perpetuity, and if you add J Dub or or Chet to the eventual outbox, the decision gets tougher. They're an exceptionally talented young team, and if they win a Championship, they should be reluctant to break it up.
Also, you can scoff at parting with Dort, Hartenstein, and to a lesser extent, Caruso, but they're a completely different team defensively without those guys. If OKC had Hartenstein last year, I'm not sure Dallas wins that series. This isn't replacing Barnes and Bogut with prime Durant.

Re: Spurs - Bucks - Giannis on the move
Giannis may be worth all that, but not for the Spurs. You just moved all of your best assets, still have a lot of holes to fill and challenges from a roster construction standpoint, for a window of what, 3/4 years? Giannis won't be his top 3 self in his mid 30s. By then you're out of assets, trending downwards with him and Fox, and Wemby is close to free agency... a recipe for desaster. Worst of all, I don't think this guarantess them a title in the current landscape. I'd rather make smaller, cheaper, better fitting moves that allow the team to compete, maybe even contend depending on how fast Wemby develops, and bet on a longer timeline. These all in moves rarely work, and when they do it's usually ephemeral and leave behind barren land.

Re: Spurs - Bucks - Giannis on the move
Giannis is worth far more than that and I believe the Spurs are way too well run to turn down such a gift if the Bucks offered it. Wild how many posters though turn down great deals for their team for the most specious of reasons though. This is so far from an all-in move.

Re: Spurs - Bucks - Giannis on the move
I think if you believe Giannis is not a good target for the Spurs, it's not really about a price tag. If you don't think it's a good fit on or off the court or don't like the direction it would force the team to go, and whether the OP of a thread arbitrarily decided to add X number of picks rather than X+Y number kind of feels moot.
"Value" isn't, hasn't been, and will likely never be the main motivating factor in trades. In my view, the sides have to agree to a trade in concept first and then work out value. It's not that teams don't want a certain amount of compensation; it's that opening up even most trades to a 29-team auction is just impractical, and I think a lot of threads on this site are underpinned by the idea that such an auction exists, or at least the spectre of it hangs over negotiations.

As cool as it would be to have Giannis & Wemby on the same team, this is never happening. The value is too low, the Bucks aren't interested in moving Giannis, and Giannis likely has no interest in moving to SA either.

I agree with your first couple points, but I think Giannis would be just fine going to SA with titles in sight. Healthy Giannis and Wemby would be a near unstoppable duo IMO.

Im genuinely curious what are some landing spots you think make sense for Giannis?
Id bet this is his last series in Milwaukee. Team is aging, expensive, and they've already gone through a coaching change.
Personally I think okc could beat the offer, I'm just not sure they will. So who are the teams with giannis offers that also satisfy a winning team?
NY? Towns + picks? Does that beat this?
Houston? Could they make amen available? If they did (or didnt) are they really a contender with those guards?
Maybe I'm off base, maybe spurs need to add another couple picks/swaps. But just not sure what other teams beat this

Those Euros are always more loyal than people think. We've had rumours about Giannis leaving before, and he's about to complete year 12 with the small town Bucks. Has there ever been a Euro star that has demanded a trade before? The only case that's remotely comparable is Zinger and he was on the most dysfunctional franchise in the NBA for many years. Zinger also wasn't really a star.
Club loyalty means alot in European sports culture. Dirk, Jokic, Giannis, etc, these guys just seem to stay put. Luka actually cried after being told he'd been traded, and keeps his broken phone as a memento.

The 2027 first is Atl not SAS. Which is minor, but matters.. Sac owns the SAS 2027 first.
I’ll side with this not be enough. And SAS would be willing to pay more.
I think SAS would like instantly be a contender if Wemby is healthy. Flip Keldon+ for a better fit. Use MLE on a backup big. Retool in 4-5 years if necessary once the picks are paid.
Trade 14 to NOP for the right to tank next season? And then whatever you get Dame for..
I like Vassell more than I should, so think you just add value to the OP to make it Keldon instead of Vassell..

I guess I differentiate interest from demanding a trade. If they sent him without consulting with him like Luka, I’m sure that would sting. But if he is to move, I think Spurs would be up there with where he would have interest playing.
