Re: 2025 nfl draft thread
If we're inclined to take a high upside project at DE, I'd go Mykel Williams. I know the scheme at A&M holds guys back, but 2.5 sacks with those physical talents? That's too much of a gap between production and talent. Williams also played in a system that limits pass rushers, but he was significantly more productive.

I'm seeing a lot of talk of Mason Graham dropping to us.

hard to see him making it through the 5-10 buzzsaw, all teams can take a DT easily, but you never know.

I agree but there have been a couple mocks like PFF and Matt Miller's off the top of my head plus other chatter giving the 9ers Graham at #11.
I'd chalk it up to the last minute overthinking that tends to happen at this time but I still find it interesting that Graham was never an option for the 9ers till now.

yea, there is smoke about Mason Graham dropping now, and that even if he's available at 11, we might have Nolen ranked higher. not sure if this is all pre draft smokescreens or legitimate, but gonna be a wild night
also A LOT of fog around Mykel Williams at 11, not just Stewart.

Re: 2025 nfl draft thread
Today is the day. Any final predictions? I think the DE and DT they want are off the board so they reach for a player targeted in the 20 to 25 range

Re: 2025 nfl draft thread
Just never know what this front office will do. Typically they fall in love with a guy and will reach if they have too which makes me worried. If there is a T there that can start day one at RT I am game, also would be good with a DL

Re: 2025 nfl draft thread
DJ is pretty plugged in actually, those might not be the right picks but most likely the correct range...Jihaad Campbell dropping to 32 means teams are telling him the shoulder injury is serious and he'll probably miss most of the off-season program

Can't see it either but if he does that must mean his red flags are actually an issue.

That's why I don't get hung on the talk of a player being a "reach".
Don't get me wrong reaching is definitely a thing but it's just fans will get hung up on taking a guy at #11 that some draft analysts had as a late 1st rounder.
I'm not one to say draft analysts are idiots as they generally have a good idea of players value but they just don't know have the resources and access that NFL teams do when it comes to studying players nor are they intimately familiar with how all the teams operate.
The majority of drafty analysts put together their board, look at a team's need, and using a baseline knowledge of the team plug in the BPA for one of those needs to that team.

I expect it to between a DL or OT with DL being the likely pick. Wouldn't be shocked if they have a curveball pick but I think they'll play it safe and not deviate from conventional wisdom.
Just hard to guess which DL they pick since all have issues and it's impossible to tell how they feel about them. Are Nolen's red flags overblown or are they a real issue? Do they look at Stewart's production and think it's something that can be coached up?
Not to mention we don't know if there will be a surprise slide or not like Graham.

I'll also add that whoever will have very divided opinions among the fans.
Pretty much anyone realistically on the board at #11 is going to have legit positives along with legit question marks and outside of Graham if he drops there is going to be the fans that love the pick and the ones that hate it.

Re: 2025 nfl draft thread
yea I won't berate the team for "reaching" because we don't actually know how any of these teams view these players, all teams have their own big boards based on their own systems and scheme fits and how they project their personnel moving forward.
but if you draft a kicker in the 3rd round you're getting **** on.

The way I see it is if the player you pick likely isnt going to be on the board the next time you pick than you didn't reach.
Just like with Pearsall last year. He was considered as high as an early 2nd so taking him at 31 wasn't a reach to me and he wasn't going to be there for our 2nd round pick.
It's totally fair to debate whether we could've picked a better player at that spot but fans need to be less obsessed with draft value.
