For the love of God just start Mitch and Cam. Have Mikal and Josh off the bench. This will do two things. Create another ball handler and force Jalen to pass to KAT. A bench of Hart, Mikal and Deuce against their second unit would work wonders. Get creative Thibs, Damn it!

I actually really think that Thibs has nothing to lose by making radical lineup changes. But he won't.

The biggest adjustment is probably just players playing better.

The guys are not going to become fundamentally different players. KAT doesn't pass well out of double teams or drives. He's not really a creator for anyone but himself. We can take advantage of him better for sure, but him shooting 25 times isn't the answer either.

Brunson is the only high level creator on this team. He's going to find the balance, but people simply aren't understanding how much is on his shoulders to tilt the defense. More often than not, him shooting it is the best option. He needs to stop trying to bully Thompson so much though and keep his head focused on nothing but the game. But he will, because he's a winner, and the insinuations that his playstyle is due to some character defect is dispelled by his entire career. The guy is a goddamn super hero and is still the best clutch player in basketball.

Mikal and OG need to lock in defensively and shoot more 3's. There's a lot of pressure on them, but they are forcing Cade to make a lot of the same decisions Brunson is being forced into, but Cade handled it better in game 2. It's a team effort, and they have both been solid, but they need to find another gear.

Hart needs to either play less or shoot better. Same as its been all year, but he's really the only guy out there matching Detroit's energy.

None of this is to say Thibs is innocent, but I don't think we need him to become Tyron Lue either to beat this team. He will get dealt with when the playoffs are over one way or another.

This is such a gross misquote to push their agenda. And again I think Thibs was bad in game 2 so whatever he deserves the criticism. But if this is what they took away from his ACTUAL quotes then, they need a refresher on reading comprehension....

Thibs pretty clearly said they'll look at everything that went wrong and try to fix it.

"I think when you look at it in totality, the game is 97-94 & Mikal has an open 3 with 11 seconds to go. And he shot it great, it just didn’t go in. It was a great play by Jalen to Mikal; Mikal did a great job moving without the ball. So if that shot goes in, we’re probably not talking about the other stuff. But that’s playoff basketball. And then, what do you learn from the game and how do you re-set and get ready for the next one? And I think all that stuff is important. Each game, take what happened in the previous game, study and get ready for the next one."

It’s this and the offensive rebounding. Last year’s offense wasn’t great either if you don’t have the historical offensive rebounding. We need to reinvent the wheel a little.

a lot of the 3s he took were good looks though, he was just off. the drives were largely out of control though.

A lot of those 3s were pretty deep and bad shots. But anyways those drives are the same drives he is doing here. People keep blaming Thibs for KAT driving from the 3 point line but that’s been his game for a long time. Why does he do that? god knows why.

i wasn't referencing that clip btw - which was just a minute of hand picked worst shots/drives he did. throughout the series though he missed a lot of good looks.

iHart provided playmaking, phenomenal screens, rebounding, interior defense and his floater. All of which were crucial to us on both ends. He was an unconventional stretch 5 because you could not give him space to survey the defense and make passes.

He was a huge loss for sure, but we should still be able to win this series. The main problem is that we have too few guys who are doing the dirty work.

What Thibs is saying is "Just get the W" ... but that sounds a lot simpler and better than it is. He had that approach after G1 and it cost us G2. Jeez.

It's like he's blaming MB for the miss and not accepting that maybe he can impact offense.

I don't know. He is a good coach in a lot of ways but this is some serious self-indictment I think.

Mitch needs to play 32 minutes. Probably should start. Play loads with KAT.

not suggesting Detroit wouldn’t adjust, but the 2 penetrators (brunson, cam) and big frontcourt lineup seemed to give them trouble.

our best lineup against them is

Mitch / Achiuwa / Towns
Towns / Achiuwa / Hart
Anunoby / Hart / Mikal
Mikal / McBride / Payne
Brunson / Payne / Wright

Following up, this pissed me off more than any past JB pre or post game rant.

Based on reality and the actual stats it would actually mean the opposite considering his team has benefited the most in the playoffs from all teams from FTAs and all the games have been decided by a few possessions, if the whistle went the other way or evenly distributed they would be played off the floor and that’s with the Knicks playing some of their worse offense of the season.

Brunson is #2 and Cade is #4 with a 4 FT disparity again another lie and convenient stretching of the truth

He's a good coach, but we're looking for elite outcomes.

Well, to be honest, getting through this series should still only qualify as "good"

This is me giving benefit of the doubt to Thibs and I rarely if ever do that but my gut tells me he's holding the KAT/Mitch duo for Boston. Almost as if he doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag so they can prepare for it. There is absolutely no reason why the duo has not seen more playing time unless the team is holding out and Mitch is still semi-injured.

Thibs will prob stick with Hart in the starting lineup unless we got down 2–1… then maybe he makes the Mitch for Hart deal… but Thibs gonna Thibs
