The last 5 minutes are Donovan Mitchell iso with one Garland iso and a Struss airball(he must be their Hart). Mobley and Allen were standing around and literally did not touch the ball once

if someone double or triple teams you that means someone is open. that becomes an advantage. that's what you want in basketball. what are we doing here ?
Not when there's a guy standing on the perimeter too shook to shoot and not capable of taking the centers opposing coaches are putting on him off the dribble, get to the hole. Then the ball just moves around, gets back to the only guy ballsy enough to heave a shot at the end of the clock, and he takes it.
That's our **** offense. Josh's man is doubling, and never going back to him, because they are fine with him bricking shots and getting turnovers from his stupid jump passes and terrible ball handling. His best attribute is finishing in transition, which is why he'd be awesome with the bench.
If we get by this team, Boston's entire game plan is going to be around Josh Hart taking shots. I spoke about this after game one of the season, this is what they do to every team. Anybody who dares to come inside will face a wall, and Josh will be left open by Horford to jack up whatever he wants. We will be destroyed. This logic that the guy is open...ok...sure...go ahead...take 40 shots. The Celtics dare you.
We are not going anywhere until this coach realizes that a two bit role player shouldn't be starting and getting 40 plus **** minutes a game for his measly single digit points and bull **** chase down without boxing anybody out and leaving corner threes wide open rebounds, especially when you have a 7 foot monster sitting on the bench that was handled with bubble wrap all season for this time of the year.
His best coaching comes when it's his type of team on the floor, he has the pieces but he's not using them because Lord knows wtf Josh has on him. They need to get back to playing with size, crashing the boards and playing bully ball. This cutesy fake 5 out lineup he has out there is going to be his demise. Put Kat and OG back in their natural positions, and have the best offensive rebounder in the NBA get your point guard's misses....because you have nothing else on offense.
There is no purpose of playing Kat at the 5 only TO GET OUT REBOUNDED BY 14. You do that to draw out the other team's center and create driving lanes for your guards and make it easier for them on offense. THEY ARE PUTTING THE CENTER ON YOUR BUM ASS SMALL FORWARD and still preventing this. This is not going to work with him in there. Put the guy in there that can give them the same taste of their medicine and lock up the rim, because their center is not on the perimeter anyway like he's supposed to because the other coach is playing chess with the matchups.
Jesus **** Christ. Am I (Please Use More Appropriate Word)? Is this coach that brilliant that I'm too stupid to know wtf he's doing? Even with my points, I still don't like it. With this amount of talent, there has to be something better than playing struggle basketball. We aren't these Pistons or last year's injury riddled team, yet seem to have to play the same way for any success.

KAT not getting up enough shots is an indictment against the coach ...not the player....Unless you want him rebelling against the coach and hijacking the offense.
Bottom line: Knicks need a new coach.
That’s really your basketball takeaway from the coach asking a player not to take bad shots through double and triple teams?
Because 2-17 with 20 transition points off those misses would def be “an indictment against the coach.”
My basketball takeaway is: THE KNICKS NEED A NEW COACH
Many were lashing out at KAT for not demanding the ball from Brunson and forcing up 30 contested shots in a stagnant offense....
KAT beasted the 1st game and early in game 2....the Pistons adjusted to how they defend him. There was no counter-adjustment to get KAT good looks.
It was necessary to do so because KAT is the team's most efficient shooter in nearly every category. It was impossible to get him good looks from 3, midrange, in the post, transition?
KAT would have been able to get quality shots if the coach maybe ran plays to free him up. I didn't see any emphasis on running action to set him up. It was Brunson iso ball all night.
I'm beginning more and more to believe, this is his playoff offense, his strategy. Less passing, more isos to keep the turnovers down and get the most shots, and take obvious shots, which come the best from isos, to maximize second chance opportunities. Mistakes are what makes him **** his pants, he's a pants ****, which is why he leaves starters in at the end of games up twenty. Ball movent leads to turnovers especially with playoff intensity defense, and transition points.
He gives them his simple game plan then shoves his head in the sand, too scared to watch if its' working. When it works, hooray, when it doesn't, he makes up **** like we didn't give effort, it's always effort, never strategy or game plan with him. Josh gives him effort, so it must work, never mind the strategy the opposing coach is using against this player that is blowing his team apart. This is why he sucks at in game management. Hey, the center is guarding Josh, who is 5 for 15, we are getting outrebounded, lets put in Mitch...no...Josh needs to give more effort. Jalen...get the ball.
It makes me realize something about Jules, watching him play on the Wolves this post season, why he could've had such a drastic fall in the playoffs. This coach is doing the same things he was doing with lesser players, even with more talent. He's relegated Kat to looking like Hartenstein out there...running around doing role player ****. He likes this slow, methodical, isolation basketball in the playoffs, and it's what possibly affected Randle's play, somebody who unlike Kat, wasn't capable of going out there and playing like a Noah because he demanded the ball, too, he wasn't somebody who would be happy to go a quarter and a half without taking a shot to appease the coach and his point guard that runs everything. Speaking of, the only dudes who prosper in his playoff style, who raise to Jordan levels are the only guys he ever trusts with the basketball in playoff games...his point guards. One of them became an MVP...remember that guy.
Want proof...go back and watch what happened the year Rose went down and they were still able to battle in the playoffs. It was because one guy got those same keys and a green light and went nuclear.

Dare I say, Brunson's gaudy playoff numbers.....are a product of the point guard iso heavy offense this coach DEMANDS. That's right..demands. Kat's post game interview on why he didn't take shots in the fourth makes me believe this. He's not Jules, he went with the flow and did what was asked. When he got doubled and those shots got hard, he passed, and they did the same **** over and over, getting it to the only guy the coach trusts, his point guard. Sink or swim, Jules would never. I can respect that, now.

The ghost of Kat's past was one of his best games as a Knick in his first playoff game as a Knick.
It's time to stop blaming players and start looking at Tom's playoff resume. Kat admitted he didn't "want to be the guy that breaks plays". He's the new guy in this mess, so when Brunson only uses him the entire fourth quarter just to get the mismatch he wants and not to actually utilize one of the most talented big men in the league to get a bucket, that has nothing to do with him being scared, and everything with trying to not look like Randle out there jacking shots against double teams in this unimaginative offense.
If he was scared, he wouldn't have been five for seven and gotten ten points in a hurry. Bickerstaff adjusted, your boy didn't.
"Jalen!!!!"

He also played 13 total minutes in those 2 games. I'm not sure he was much of a factor either way. All I remember about Payton in that series was Collins was guarding him when I was hoping Randle would have an advantage over Collins physically.
Well not that it matters but it’s overlooked that Nerlens tweaked his ankle in game 2 and we started starting taj gibson from game 3 as well so we actually switched out two of the established starters after that and it didn’t go well to say the least. Game 1 was a close loss that came down the final possession too. And then of course Mitch was out.
Anyway they beat the #1 seed 76ers and went to the conference finals giving the eventual champion bucks a run for their money until Trae got hurt. Now they can’t even make the playoffs. Wtf happened to that team
They almost had it and fell apart. Preview of the Knicks path.

Every single time, the Cavs crossed half court with 18 or more seconds on the clock to run offense. Every single time, Donovan got the pick, made a decisive move and put up the shot. Three different players took turns to bring the ball up so Mitchell conserved energy.
One guy did not hold the ball the entire possession on multiple possessions. It whipped around to two, three guys, keeping the defense honest, Mitchell got the pick and went to work RIGHT AWAY. He didn't just iso, he used picks, and he didn't just use the pick to get the mismatch he wanted to iso his defender to death, he used the pick to get space to make his drives. The pick setter followed to get a chance at offensive rebounds, because again, he was involved in the play, he wasn't relegated to moving out the way and stand around for his pg to dribble the ball for ten seconds.
Not once did he waste energy getting pressed full court, bumping into his defender every single dribble to draw a foul. Not once did he waste the entire shot clock trying to make a move, get nothing, pass the ball back to the perimeter only to get it back again to run the same **** all over again only this time with the clock dwindling down.
Nobody is asking our guys to play like the **** Warriors, we are asking where does this coach get his game logic from. How does a guy who saved your ass in the first game play only 4 minutes the second game. How are you getting out rebounded all game but continue to play a small ball lineup when nobody is shooting well, with a brick layer shoe horned in there making it tough to run your own offense. That little guy who isn't shooting or rebounding, how about we replace him with a 7 foot guy who can at least give you the one thing you need NOW. We are down three with ball in hand, how about putting Duece in the game....oh no, we might need Josh Hart's effort. We haven't scored in a while, call timeout, out of the timeout, Precious gets a three.
Again, logic...does this **** have it? You want us to give you a coach...first explain his decisions.
Everybody runs isos in the playoffs at crunch time....but they don't make it so **** obvious as we do. When Brunson gives up the ball, he HAS to get it back. Who is telling him to try something else because with 8 seconds to go, the defense knows wtf you're going to do. Go ahead, do your iso, but your second and third options shouldn't also be the same iso from the SAME **** PLAYER. How many times did someone get the ball after Brunson had nothing, and hold it waiting for Brunson to come get it back?? All game. Did you see Mitchell in that clip you posted doing that?
It's what this dip$**** wants, because he only goes with what he trusts. We need coaching, not someone who puts people in or doesn't let them get the ball based on his feelings. It's not what we do, it's how we do it. He is a good coach, has the right idea most times, but where the **** are the OBVIOUS adjustments when necessary, ones people watching can see.
We are asking for actual in game coaching, something we can see with our eyes. All we are seeing is the same **** from pre-season...how??? I like Thibs, I thought his stint with the Warriors opened up new things for him, and it shows during the season sometimes, but in the playoffs......sheesh....dude is so tight he's afraid to press any buttons. I don't want a new coach, I want this guy to change, be less rigid..if he can, he can take his coaching to new heights, because otherwise he's great.
"The game will tell you what to do". No mother ****, you're supposed to tell them what to do.
