DAL trades: Klay Thompson, Caleb Martin, Derrick Lively (anything needed to balance?)
MIN trades: Rudy Gobert
Why DAL does it: pair two DPOY caliber players in the front-court, still have assets for another move to finalize the roster for next year (e.g., 11 + PJ + Gafford + Marshall + filler for Durant?).
Why MIN does it: Get a long-term partner at center for Edwards who is still a strong rim-runner and defender + add some not-horrible depth/salary filler for subsequent trades.

Maybe I'm off, but I feel that Lively has way more value that Gobert. I'm not even really sure Gobert is a positive asset tbh.
Count that baby and a foul!

Gobert is still really good, but at 32 you may be right that Lively has more value. I do think Rudy is a positive on 35 million a year, but he might not be on the last year of his deal.

Re: Gobert to Dallas
I’ve played with Rudy to Dallas.
I’d want to know Dallas is willing to pay to get “Sexton” (or monk or…) because you obviously need this to be all-in.
Minn.. I think they should feel like they are close to being a contender and shouldn’t take the short term step back..
But Lively/Naz/McDaniels/Ant (hopefully Dilly) is a starting lineup that can last as long as they want to stick together/ownership willing to pay

We can figure something out, Sexton + 11 for whatever and 21?

Why does Dallas need another 5 when they have AD, Lively, and Gafford already?

Re: Gobert to Dallas
I don't see the need to consolidate the position that we have better covered, in fact I think AD will have to be the 5 in the important moments, if we want to be relevant... in fact the offensive adjustment of the Lively/AD pairing has left me with more shadows than Claros (and DL is more dynamic and better offensively than Rudy)... we need to invest in a playmaker, after changing to a generational one.

Its not another one. It's upgrading. We see this way too many times by too many posters. Just because you have guys doesn't mean you shouldn't improve if you can. Lively and Gafford are both at this point low level starters/great backups. Gobert is still a very high level starter. And if you look at AD and Kyrie and say all that really matters is the next year or two its easy to see the thinking on a guy like Gobert.
Now I personally think the way to get the most out of AD is to have him play plenty of center so I'm not interested in trading for Gobert all that much. I want to see if Gafford or Lively can be used as part of a package to upgrade wing or creator.
But the logic is sound even if not the direction I would go.
Being negative about everything all the time though really isn't the contribution you think it is btw.

Re: Gobert to Dallas
Dallas is just too offensively challenged to accomodate Gobert at 35M.

I guess my bigger concern is that Dallas has more pressing needs than upgrading at the 5. They should play AD at the 5, for most of the game if they can't get away with starting him there. If I'm moving a bunch of assets for Dallas it's not to get older and upgrade a position I'm pretty set at.
