Kings off-season
Following Longfellow premise of shipping LaVine to Utah
Trade 1 - Utah - Sac - Orlando
Kings out: LaVine, 27 Spurs 1st, 2 2nds
Kings in: Collins, Isaac, Howard
Utah out: Sexton, Collins
Utah in: LaVine, 27 Spurs 1st, #25
Why for Utah? Get 2 1sts to take on Lavine for Sexton.
Orlando out: Isaac, Howard, #25
Orlando in: Sexton
Why for Orlando? Give up a late 1st to add a scoring guard they need.
Trade 2 - Dallas - Sac
Demar + 2 2nds for Hardy, Martin, Naji
Why for Dallas? Get 2 cheap assets + a scorer to hold down the fort while Kyrie is gone.
Free Agency - Throw the MLE at Jerome. If that fails go after Exum.
Kings roster -
Jerome or Exum/Carter
Keon/Monk
Murray/Naji/Martin
Collins/Isaac
Sabonis/JV
The idea here is to build a Houston-lite roster. A bunch of big forwards surrounding their passing big. The guard play relies a lot on Jerome living up to the hype, and Carter/Keon taking another step forward with more reps. Also properly continuing to develop Keegan without lavine/derozan in the way. You still have a ton of tradable salaries here with Isaac, Martin, Collins, Jerome, Carter and a full range of 1st round picks for when a stud point guard becomes available, but this team is more flexible and should be better defensively.

I cant see UTA taking on Zach for those picks.
The ending roster for SAC is a play-in team at best as well IMO. Probably not even that.

think Utah wants to preserve capspace in 2026 to get another star to pair w/ lauri and this + next yr's high lotto pick

Ya I'm not assuming Sac is going to re-tool this roster overnight. My plan is to move towards a defensive focused team, with tons of length and depth. It's going to take another trade next year or at the deadline to set it really in motion. Ideally I want to tear down, but the team won't so at least give me a scrappy exciting team while they figure it out.
As for Utah what else is missing? Kings adding the 31 Wolves 1st?

Re: Kings off-season
I don’t see Utah doing it. Maybe if there’s a fourth team that values LaVine a bit / neutral value or Ainge knows he can trade 25+2nds for a future protected first, etc.... But they really don’t need another late first this year.
And I do think some team would trade for LaVine at slightly above neutral value. If Dallas was able to get LaVine for Gafford, Klay, Martin, Hardy, Powell.. I think they easily do that. Dallas can probably find a couple seconds to add to get the deal done. Or trade 11th for the SAS first or something like that to add value?
And that probably helps the OP, though it kills the destination for Demar for the other trade.
And don’t really think the finished roster is worth paying for for Sac. Even though I don’t like DDR or LaVine, I don’t think the finished roster is better than the current one.
You need an FVV and a Thompson to copy Houston’s model..

Thats a fair assessment. Does adding a 2031 Minnesota 1st to Utah change Ainges mind here at all? My thought is Utah would be able to run a team that makes more sense with LaVine and trade him next off-season for maybe positive value?
As for the kings coming out like Houston. It's going to take a lot, I get it. As a Kings fan I'm optimistic about Carter, Keon, Keegan. I'd like to open up some room to develop those guys offensively. Something we weren't able to do with the trio of Monk, LaVine, DeRozan. This new roster forces Keegan to take 15-20 shots a game, and he's either going to sink or swim.
The team now vs post the trade is probably in the same spot. But rather than 36 year old demar, 31 year old Lavine. The emphasis is on the young guys + a bunch of 20 something year old role players. If I could scrap the roster and start the tear down with Carter, Keon, Keegan and a bunch of NPCs while we tank for top 5 picks I would, but I know that isnt going to happen. At least with this team we build the right mindset while we are drafting in the top 10 the next 2 years. Not allowing Demar/LaVine to get in young guys ways.

Yeah, I think Utah is already getting decent value. It’s just a bad fit for a team planning to tank. Maybe if they get Flagg and shift to win now. But then why not keep Sexton and trade Collins for help somewhere else versus paying LaVine.
It’s just not something I think Sac should pay for.
But Utah should do it IMO off of value if you send the late first to Sac and give Utah any future protected first for Sac. Doesn’t have to be unprotected high value first. Could just be 2026 top 10 protected for a few years.. Just spread the asset out. Ainge is kind of watered down right now with prospects that haven’t shined. Don’t need Sullinger, Hampton, etc..
Still would think LaVine needs a new home though.

If they get flagg or harper and they showed out, then they are more attractive draw than sacramento imo.

No disagreement. But outside of maybe Flagg (but even then), it's unlikely Utah or the Kings become a FA destination. And FWIW I agreed with your statement that FA's won't be lining up to go to Sac, I was just pointing out the same is true for Utah. So using that as a reasoning for turning down a deal seems silly.

i'm just htinking they prefer the flexibility over taking on Lavine for spurs 1st ,but i could be wrong

Still not a fan of bringing Isaac to the Kings.
Far too much risk and not enough reward to justify it.
Also not a fan of attaching draft picks to move Lavine. I’d rather wait out the contract and have the huge salary relief when he expires or trade for real value at the deadline of his expiry year.

And what incentive are you offering to get the Kings to downgrade this significantly? Do you think other teams don't know how bad Kuzma has been since he got paid or something lol?
