Not dominant, but I kind of like Joel Parra as the kind of player who would somehow be exactly as good in the NBA as he is in Euroleague.
I wasn’t even thinking of current overseas players, but I’m all for it.
I was first thinking about nba dudes who’ve gone and dominated in international competition.
I’ve been underwhelmed some with Dame in Milwaukee, and a tiny piece of my worry coming in was really how he looked in the 2020 Olympics where he struggled to fill any type of role that wasn’t him being the lead guy, and as a result wasn’t all that impactful. I think many of those warts that were seen then have popped up here, unfortunately. I still think he’s a top 30 player, and I’m not getting rid of him for the sake of it, but I’d also very actively look at the options this summer.
I really like the litmus test of international play. I think it’s an interesting data point to see how they function in a more physical environment where the court is smaller, and see if they have utility outside a team that may be optimally built for them.
That’s a big part of me liking your Lauri idea.
