What I'm really saying is that anyone who isn't LeBron usually declines dramatically (if they haven't yet, like 99% of players do) at the age of 37 or 38. About the only exception is Stockton, but he still wasn't what he was previously. How long do you expect the guy to play at a really high level?

Here are the oldest guys in the NBA, and aside from LeBron, everyone has declined a lot, except for Curry, who has just turned 37.

A leader with no rings. He can lead all he wants. Productivity matters.
KD isn’t the problem. All these trades have us trading the guy who was the least of our problems for more liability players. Makes no sense.
Keep Booker, KD and Beal. Get rid of everyone else for just defense, rebounding, hustle and heart.

Durant and Booker are the two biggest problems on the Suns

KD is dragging the team to play some ugly ISO ball, which benefits mostly him and helps sustain putting great stats at 37. Booker wants to be a Nr1 but doesn't have neither the skills nor the leadership. So yes, both are great scorers, but that's about it.

Beal has major negative value. Teams acquiring him are stuck with a massive cap hit and if it doesn't work, they're screwed (like us).
Kel'el Ware is likely untouchable. Even in a Durant trade

Ware is invisible so far against the Cavs. And I understand that "bigs take longer to develop" lol but you guys are talking about him like he is putting 20/10 in his sleep.

I have seen so many interesting Cs (Wiseman/Bagley/Bamba comes to my mind) not improving his game for years and years. I would be cautious about him.

Lol...the guy is a 20 year old rookie playing against one of the best defensive frontcourts in the NBA. He may not turn out great, but we will want a prospect...and we are unlikely to get a really promising one.

Your comparison would be a team's fan wanting to trade for Dunn and someone arguing that Dunn looks invisible against LeBron and Luka, or Tatum and Brown, or something. I mean he's a better prospect than Dunn and 2 years younger.

Not to mention the drastically upgraded defensive trio we could field with Dunn/ Ighodaro and Ware. Plus whatever young talent we could add with the 20th pick that otherwise wouldn't still be on the board at 29.

Or even possibly attaching that 20th pick to Allen or O'neale in a trade to get a player AND another pick back.

Plus also having that 48 million in expirings could allow us to sign multiple combinations of free agents in 26' ( if Both are bought out), or in 27' when both come off the books, and imagine adding that $48 million to Beal's $57 million to have a ridiculous total of $ 105 million in cap space to completely restructure our roster in a very loaded 27' free agency.

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/_/year/2027/type/ufa

So we could choose to sign any of Brook Lopez, Clint Capela, Myles Turner, Ateven Adams and also add any of Malcolm Brogdon, D Russell, Chris Paul, or trade for a Marcus Smart or maybe a Dejounte Murray or another player. And still keep the picks, trade back for additional assets or attach them in trade for a better return. And also have a young promising Center of the future in Ware too.

Obviously very solid value for a great player, but one who's already 37 with maybe two years left to play, and on an expiring max contract.

This is two offseasons of work to prepare for the summer of 2027 - whether Ishbia likes that timeline or not

Gambo already said that Myers isn't an option.

Gambo loves to do that

Granted he doesn’t have candidates for the job

They throw him scraps

Hope ur right. Really want him as our new GM

As mentioned last night, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Ishbia hire Jon Horst from Milwaukee because of his Sandusky Michigan connections.

With Ishbia, that just seems to be the paramount consideration over experience, resume, vision or talent. If you have a Michigan connection, you're pretty much in like Flint (Michigan).......LOL ! :tooth (PUN INTENDED).

Seriously though, he's not my preference, but also not terrible compared to Jones track record. A little more background on Jon Horst:

Yes, Jon Horst is widely considered a good NBA general manager, particularly for his success with the Milwaukee Bucks.

He has led the team to eight consecutive playoff appearances since being promoted to GM in 2017. The Bucks have a .647 winning percentage under his leadership, the second-best in the NBA during that period.

Horst is credited with bringing in key players like Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday, and he was named NBA Executive of the Year in 2019.

His team also won the 2021 NBA title, marking the first championship for the franchise in 50 years.

** But adding him would pretty much mean we'd never have any shot at Giannis because he really vehemently dislikes Horst. And says there's a lot of animosity between them.

2 things here!

1- Thank goodness! I really didn't get a good vibe about him. And he apparently didn't have many fans in Milwaukee due to his obvious contemptuous relationship with Giannis that'll probably result in him leaving this summer or next for another team! I wouldn't want a GM that had pushed Giannis out the door!

2- How very bad is a suns front office position if multiple GMs are turning down the opportunity/ position for literally anything else. And how does that project for our needs for a legitimate successful GM??

Can we just bring in David Griffin for an interview already? Or ideally someone from the Thinders' or Rockets front office?

Would you guys want Sabonis on our team or would you prefer to trade him elsewhere in a 3 team trade with us getting back other assets?

Like Booker. Ishbia should say “no extension. We are rebuilding. “

My guess Booker would demand a trade. My guess, and it’s fine, but getting the extra 150 is more important than a title

Again - like other players - how do you build out your roster. Top heavy. No depth

Two year rebuild .. that needs to be the plan

I'd like to move him in a trade to a 3rd team and get picks and young players back from both or whatever. But I just don't have much interest in him on our team. Now if we could send him to a team like Charlotte or Brooklyn or maybe Orlando and get a bunch of picks back, some young talent, etc. Then I'd be for it!

I'm trying to remember ( outside this actual tweet) the teams originally most interested in him and if any align with a KD trade possibly?

Lol! Beal at #2 on this list! The suns need to keep screenshots of this in case any trades come up to accentuate value leverage.

Remember Chris Paul, was great the first two games of the Mavs playoff series, and then turned 37 and suddenly didn't look the same. Guys age quickliy around that time. KD is 37 in Sept.

You’re really gonna try and compare KD to Chris Paul? Smh.
26 6 4 on 50/40/80. Are you suns fans or NBA draft fans. We won’t have any lottery picks the rest of the 20s.
Ware has done nothing. Heat have nothing to offer unless it’s 5 unprotected 1st round picks and Ware.

Damn Curry is 37 I thought he was like 34 or something. He could play another 4 or 5 years most likely.

Random thought here but I feel like trading away Camara was the biggest mistake out of all the trades in the last couple of years. Even without the draft picks, resetting around Dunn, Booker, Camara possibly Igidaro and Gillespie would have been a really fun team to get behind. Throw on some assets from the KD trade. Dang.

I think the Beal trade was bad because of the new CBA. And it looks bad with the pick swaps

But that Ayton trade was pure garbage. Who made it!!! Allen is the only one left and he might be traded this summer

You just described about 75% of the league. It’s all scorers or guys who can do just 1 thing.
We have 3 elite scorers. We just need to find guys who do the rest. We don’t need Allen, O’neale, Tyus. They’re useless. Of all I’d keep Royce because he can at least pretend to play defense even though he sucks at it he’s better than the others.
I’d only keep KD, Book, Beal, and Dunn. Everyone else can go

I didn't watch the game but just watching the boxscore I understand that they need to get an upgrade at SG. It's a must for them with Banchero and Wagner getting into their primes.

Jonathan Isaac played 7 minutes. He is basically out of their rotation with WCJ, Bitadze and Banchero playing most of PF/C minutes. And they are missing M. Wagner.

I expect them to trade Isaac for whatever. And KCP has been disappointing for them. Then you add Gary Harris and you have (almost) the perfect package for Bradley Beal.

I said it before... Beal HAS TO LOVE the idea of coming back to Florida with the warm weather and an starting role next so Suggs/Wagner/Banchero/WCJ.

Let's try it and avoid the buyout.

Yeah but Magic don't want Beal... and if they did, they would want him cheap.

Well, I know that is a LONG shot but hopefully we try every avenue. Any type of trade involving Beal would be welcome.

I would keep an eye on Washington. Atlanta and Washington were the only two teams that accepted to take Beal's contract at the past deadline.

Probably Beal is OK going back to his home in the summer with more time to readjust and they would give us their "trash".

Beal ($53.7M) for Kris Middleton ($34M) and Richaun Holmes ($13.3M). Both are expirings. $47.3M so we would reduce our payroll around $6M.

Is that too good? Well, there is another option. We can give them #52 in this year's draft.

Too good yet? Well, we can give them our low 2029 FRP. Hopefully we can get a 2nd back, like we did when trading Nurkic at the deadline.

Wizards would take Beal because they want to fleece Suns for more picks.

Trading Beal means sacrificing 2031 to 2033 extending the dire and bleak future.

Suns are doomed with this ownership.

I actually agree with Ishbia. It’s not that serious. The media likes to create narratives to manipulate fans and then teams to panic and trade players because it sells. They need news they want stars in big market cities.
There’s absolutely no reason to trade any of our big 3. They aren’t the problem. If anything it was Booker who was the biggest problem of the 3 and I’ll give him a break since he’s played a lot of basketball the past few years including the Olympics.

Return to Phoenix Suns
