Playoffs Round 1: MEM vs OKC
Reffing was terrible to start, but we couldn't ever find our rhythm and now are getting killed. Gotta play perfect to have a chance against OKC.

Is it too late to retroactively forfeit Friday's win?

Any predictions for tonight's game? Are we ready for another beating or will the players show some fight tonight?

Re: Playoffs Round 1: MEM vs OKC
4/24/25 @ 8:30 CST
TV- TNT
Officials for tonight: Josh Tiven (#58), Mitchell Ervin (#27), Kevin Cutler (#34)
Vegas: OKC -9 1/2 Over/Under- 228.5
.
Outlook: Who knows?
Grizzlies should show some more fight at home hopefully.
OKC will be looking to come out like gangbusters and put a wooden stake through the heart.
Grizzlies have to come out with that same energy and not get down early.

Re: Playoffs Round 1: MEM vs OKC
Gotta start off playing way harder tonight than we have the past two games. OKC has wanted it more.

I don't know what we did to the basketball injury gods to piss them off, but we sure didn't mess around. Prayers up for Ja. He felt unstoppable before being undercut yet again.
ALSO WHAT A HALF BY PIPPEN JR!

Re: Playoffs Round 1: MEM vs OKC
VCfor3 I feel the exact same way. I call it snakebit.
I thought the team fought and when Ja went down, the air left the building. Killed everything that they did in the first half.
So here we are at the end of the season, down 3-0 in the first round.
I hear people say the young teams need to get their playoff scars, but I'm not sure if I fully believe it.
What happens when you get the scar but never win the playoff series?

I hope OKC leaders get in Game 4 what Dort delivered in Game 3.

ESVL I agree. Unfortunately I don't think that will happen until we get an enforcer. There isn't one on this team anymore.
My thought is that we should have thrown fists last night after that.
There should not have been a calming down on that one.
.
I've looked at the Lu Dort quote on that one and he said
After the win, Dort addressed his foul on Morant in the first half, per the Memphis Commercial Appeal’s Jonah Dylan. “Tough one,” Dort said. “Obviously, I hope he’s OK. I was running back, making a hustle play for my team. I was running quick, stopped on a dime. I didn’t know he was behind me, and I was slipping. I tried to make a play on the ball, but we just ran into each other, and he fell down. But I hope he’s OK. I didn’t mean to hit him like that.”
This statement tells me a couple of things:
He said he didn't know Ja was behind him. Then why was he putting on the brakes? You can't stumble AND stop on a dime.
If he didn't know anyone was behind him, he would be contesting the Pippen layup in the air. We know he plays all out like that.
.
The other thing he said: We just ran into each other.
Basically saying it wasn't all my fault, Ja was at fault also or halfsies.
Took him out and then just waked away with no remorse or concern.
This makes me think back to the Jaylen Wells injury. Undercut
Ja twice because he was undercut.
Then i think back to the Dillon Brooks flagrant2, ejection, and suspension on Golden State.
Did Dillon mean to injure the guy? No he went after a shot and was reckless and hurt the guy.
Steve Kerr says he broke the code.
I think about the Zbo ejection for throwing an elbow at Steven Adams. Ejected right then and there.
Any play by Draymond Green, because there are too many to count.
Remember when grabbed edy's foot causing a sprain.
or
When they grabbed Ja's knee and took him out of the game/series?
How about the "finger guns" 75k fine for Ja when literally every other player does it. Half the replays and even banners on pages show players holding up the finger guns.
Seems like "The code" only applies to us.
This isn't basketball, but it is.
It's time invoke the Memphis code:
You put one of ours in the hospital, we put 3 of yours on the Injured List even if your name is spelled with an M-V-P.
Time to put a body on some of their air borne players.
If you played on the outdoor courts and somebody takes out one of yours, you can bet your a55 that fists would be thrown and nobody could have talked us out of it.
.
However, you can bet money on the next game being one of those where ticky tack fouls will be called to avoid retribution.
We don't want revenge, we want reckoning.

4/26/25 @ 2:30 CST
TV- TNT
Officials for tonight: James Capers (#19), Pat Fraher (#26), Brent Barnaky (#36)
Vegas: OKC -15.5 Over/Under- 223.5
.
Outlook: Retribution
Ja is out so, expect JJJ for good or bad to come out aggressive.
Not my expectation, but I would put JJJ on the low block.
Expect Bane to be shot hunting and Edey to be aggressive offensively and defensively.

Halftime:
OKC: 60
MEM: 59
Our bigs are in foul trouble.
The Refs are reviewing their non-calls and awarding free throws to OKC.

Re: Playoffs Round 1: MEM vs OKC
I don't see Memphis getting a favorable whistle for quite some time unless Ja gets moved. He pissed the league off and they take it out via the refs one game at a time on us. We already were up against it with Wells and Clarke out, and Ja getting hurt on a "common foul" was brutal. Add in the 5v8 most games and it was too much.
