JimmyTheKid wrote:Really fun game. All we need is for Doc to stay out of his own way. It’s incredibly frustrating that a guy who has watched more basketball than most everyone on the planet can’t figure out his best playoff rotation BEFORE the postseason. And he STILL had no plans of sitting Brook until he committed back to back fouls. Pacers get whatever they want on offense when Brook is on the floor. Make it look easy. When Brook is on the bench everything is hard. Plain as day. Figure it out, Doc.

It has to be because he’s afraid to hurt feelings, which is no excuse. Brook needs to recognize what’s best for the team and realize this isn’t the matchup for him

The Gary Trent Jr game. If Sims had hands not built of stone he would be a nice NBA starter tbh. Good minutes from him tonight.

Yeah we’ll need dame to find his legs if we’re to make a run

Three points:

1) Carlisle is a better coach than Doc, but not a great coach. His team can't play defense and they kept letting Trent open.

2) Reason for win is clear and that's defense. Dame was really good, as were most, but Green was near elite. They kept picking on him in mismatches and he won nearly all of them.

If he’s not able to then don’t play. Imagine Bobby playing 31 minutes shooting 2-12? The board would be “it’s ok he’s a role player” right? Blood clot isn’t an acl. He was shut down not because he couldn’t play but because it could have lead to major complications. If he’s cleared then he should be on. He’s not relearning his muscles like Jabari had to

It's not like he's coming back to do his local park run either. He's coming back into intense NBA playoff games.

He needs the reps in a game to get his rhythm back. No matter how hard you do it, running around a gym is not going to do that. Luckily, we have a team (for tonight at least) that can make up for his deficiencies until he gets there. At least his D was on point tonight.

Stop making excuses. He’s been awful. Either you can come and contribute or you can’t. That’s on his dumb coach. That dudes been playing basketball every day many years. Being out for a few weeks ain’t gonna make you be that bad. He’s just not that guy.

Frustratingly missed a lot of this one. Really happy for GTJ. Doc finally seeing the light? Better late than never.

We need more from him and he's not himself, but he did contribute in other ways and I don't think he played bad tonight. If he's not scoring but he's defending and moving the ball, we can survive that. As long as we're fortunate enough to have somebody else step up to put the ball in the basket.

He's going to need to make some shots if we're going to come all the way back in this series, but I generally liked how he played tonight, and his presence alone played a role in our other shooters getting good looks.

Sims and Brook each played 14 minutes. Sims was -8. Brook was +5. Sometimes that stat is spot on, other times not.

2 steals and 2 blocks were a nice boost.

Just gotta say I love this board. Love the emotional venting as well as the intelligent diagnoses. It’s more fun as a fan when you win, quite obviously, but a part of that for me is getting to continue relevant discourse here. Cheers gents

We still run an archaic office, but playing the right guys and busting it on D was good enough.

Going from doing pretty much nothing for weeks out of necessity to intense playoff basketball is a major adjustment, just the reality, we do need him to get right by Game 5 I’d say though.

Don't know where they found that Sims dude, but he can really crash the boards and holds his own defensively. Surely he has earnt more minutes.

Brook was plus 7 in the minutes he played without Kuzma, I believe.

Just saying.

GTJ with the flamethrower but Dairy had a quiet really nice game. 4/8 with stout defense and good swing passing. Funny how when you flank the most dominant interior presence on Earth (who's getting doubled a lot) with proven shooters who aren't afraid, good things generally happen.

Game 2 was the game to steal. Had Doc's moronic insistence on the jumbo lineup in the first half given way sooner we probably win and are in control.

I **** LOVED when Nemhard tried to house Green and he was a brick wall and they called a foul and Green was hyped.

Brook has no role in this series if he’s just going to be used as a three point shooter on offense. He’s a complete liability on defense and there are better 3 point shooters on the team who make more sense.

If you want to use him as a post up big to hang fouls on Turner and Siakam, I could squint and maybe see some utility in spurts. But as is, it’s just senseless.

Ditto all that for Prince. No role in this series.
