Other than being a little taller than Cowing (which is important for a receiver), their measurables (40, 10-yard split, hops, etc) seem nearly identical. And they can both return punts. Does that mean they still have faith in receivers of the Cowing mold but not Cowing himself?

Jordan James sounds like a very physical runner, despite lacking ideal size to be a true bruiser, but his 4.55 speed means he isn't going to be a threat to take it to the house. Always worry about injuries with RB's who like to play physical but don't have the Hulk physique to go with it.

Am I the only one impressed by Martin racking up 140 tackles, 6 SACKS, 2 picks in 14 games as a redshirt sophomore? He's nearly identical to Greenlaw in physical measurements and had a similar play style. Other than the chances of getting him later in the draft, what's not to like?

The CJ West pick makes sense to me, particularly given that we also drafted Alfred Collins. Collins is a mountain of a man at 6-6, 332 pounds. In contrast, West ran a 4.95 40, putting him in the 82 percentile for DT's. But more than just straight ahead sprint speed, West's 1.72 10=yard split was the fastest at the combine for guys over 315 pounds. So Collins can be that huge nose tackle-type guy that can't be moved while West provides the speed and lateral mobility. The challenge is that both were much more noted as run stoppers in college and neither has yet demonstrated much as pass rushers, putting all the pressure on Bosa and Mykel Williams to get the sacks.

Looks like our entire approach this draft is to solidify the defense with hard hitters and run stoppers, which I'm not totally against because I hate seeing teams run on us, but man our OL is one or two injuries away from being a complete disaster.

Sigle is known for being good against the run, but his 4.37 was the fastest 40 time among safeties at the combine. That time is much faster than both Brown and Mustapha who were in the 4.54-4.58 range and Sigle even played a bit of cornerback at North Dakota State. We were burned on a number of plays last season due to our lack of safety speed so Sigle does bring another element that were were missing.

But yeah, I'm really hoping that there are some under the radar O-linemen that Chris Foerster has his eyes on for the 7th round. Can't imagine the heir for Trent is there so it needs to be an interior guy who can challenge for our vacant LG spot. But not drafting an OT is shocking to me.

Little bit lighter and had trouble staying on the field, in college. Doesn’t always finish his hits, looking for the big one. Greenlaw is clearly the prototype, in fact this whole draft feels like trying to get the gang back together.

it's pretty obvious he's the Greenlaw replacement but the draft position is the rub, Greenlaw himself was drafted in the 5th. these guys just typically don't go as high as the third.

I'm not super caught up on draft value these days but are we saying inside lbs that can tackle, blitz, and cover aren't with 3rd round picks? If he's greenlaw for the next 4-5 years, it's a great pick and, personally, I will not care if he was 3rd, 4th, or 5th round.

I believe greenlaw was projected as "an immediate contributor on special teams", hence his 5th round slot. If it was "projects as an all-pro in 3 years", i think he would have gone higher
