I know this is sarcasm but this is why I don't get the people upset we didn't keep our pick this year, unless they didn't understand the future pick situation. By giving this one up we ensured we didn't give up a potential future lottery pick, which considering how uncertain this squad's future is, could have been far more devastating. Imagine we get another decent player at #8 or whatever, but he doesn't truly move the needle, the team falls apart, we get a top 3 pick in 2028... but oops now we owe that pick fully unprotected in a draft with a LeBron or Joker type talent.

There was no perfect scenario, but giving up the pick this year was probably the right move.

I have no problem with how the pick situation turned out. Moreso that we have a number of people clamoring on here to trade picks, assets in the offseason for win-now moves like Durant, Zion, Anfernee Simons, etc when this team is nowhere close to competing.

A team built around Bam and Herro will never go anywhere and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. They’re just not good enough players.

I'm starting to agree more with this, although I don't know how far you go with a full rebuild, I don't think you always have to get rid of literally everyone (look at mid 00's Boston, kept Pierce who ended up the Finals MVP for them).

Its just silly because you have people on the one hand saying the team is terrible, but also, this is why they desperately needed to keep the #8 pick in the draft, because they were that close to contending! If you think we suck, we didn't really need that pick right now, and we really don't need to be giving up a top 3 pick in the future.

In fairness to him, he is coming off of an injury and hasn't played in what? 2 months?

But, yeah, I've long said he (and Ware) were not as good as they've been hyped to be by some.

You're wrong about Ware.

He's got insane upside, simply because he’s the best athlete on this team. His combine numbers were absolutely nuts — nearly 7'0" in shoes, 7'4" wingspan, around 230 pounds, and a 36-inch vertical leap. That kind of size + athleticism combo is incredibly rare.

Most guys his height either lack mobility, explosion, or coordination — Ware has all three. His movement skills at that size are special, and that’s the kind of physical foundation you just can’t teach. With good development and added strength, his ceiling is way higher than a lot of people realize.

He needs a few more years, but he’s got 20/10 on good efficiency with high level defense written all over him. Could be a real difference maker for them down the line.

Let's hope I am wrong, but Draft combine numbers don't mean much.

no, blow this **** up. its a bad product that doesnt congeal. we may keep ware a couple of others but we need to trade bam and herro or assets or picks to make a proper rebuild. its gonna happen at some point when riley retires so better do it this season

On Ware's potential, I agree on paper its insane. But if you watch him, and this is just a vibes thing... but he comes across to me like a guy who plays ball because he was the tallest kid and people said he's going to be a millionaire and he's got to do it. Not like a guy who lives this. Again, could be totally off base, I don't know him that well, just his mannerisms that's what I get.
